  • Loose weight w/out working out?

    So I'm on my 10th day of induction and I have lost 7 pounds so far. I feel good and although I haven't lost a lot so far I feel my clothes fitting looser. However I was lazy with the first week of induction in that I did not make time to work out like I should have. I was busy with meetings and starting a new business so I had a hard time. I think I only worked out 1 day. So just yesterday I went to Kickboxing class and while doing some drills I twisted my ankle pretty bad so now I can't work out. If I'm off of working out for a week or two my question is will I still loose weight if I follow the strict atkins diet? I guess I was surprised to loose 7 pounds with just atkins diet alone but now that I was all excited to work out I twist my darn ankle...ugh! So just wondering if I will see progress in my weight loss goals while my ankle heals.

    first time i did atkins, i didnt leave the lazyboy and lost 35lbs in 2 months. i think you will loose wieght, but perhaps slower then you would if you worked out.

      Yes... you'll probably still lose weight as it's early in your lifestyle change... but you'll need to add it back in as soon as your ankle is better. Perhaps you could do an upper body workout to keep things ticking over.

        I have hurt my knee a couple of times and not been able to exercise for a week or so, I just continued with some ab workouts so I felt like I was doing something!!!

        And yes the weight still comes off!

        I hope your ankle is on the mend soon

          The first time I tried Atkins I did not exercise during the first 2 weeks of induction, and still lost. I did however feel that my w/loss stood still a bit when I started to exercise regularly thou, due to a little water retention and my muscles, so I would suggest that you let you ankle heal PROPERLY sothat you do not suffer a relapse once you do start exercising. And then just remember that you might loose a bit slower that week or even not loose at all, BUT after once the scale starts moving again & you are doing regular exercise - boy oh boy - you will be very happy.

          P.S> I also feel that I can get away with a bit more since I exercise so hard & so often - it just gives you that little something to fall back on should you consume something that you did not realise was not Atkins friendly.
