  • Lunchmeat during Induction

I went to the supermarket today and decided to buy some lunchmeat like turkey or roast beef. I looked at the nutrition facts and saw that it has 2 carbs per serving and that it has sugar in it. The lowest one i could find had 1 carb per serving and it also has sugar in it. Some of the meat also had corn starch. I knew to stay away from the meats that had tons of things in it that end in ose. I was so confused and I figured that if it was that hard to figure out if it was all right to eat then it probably wasn't. Is it ok to have lunchmeat during induction if it has 1 or 2 carbs? One serving is about 12 slices and has 2 carbs.

nope, you need to stay away from the packaged things because of those sugars, corn starches, salt content and so on.

are you sure you have that serving right? 12 slices is 1 serving? check that again. any lunchmeat i've ever seen is 1 slice per serving.

Thanks. Yes, I'm sure about the serving. The slices are really thin like paper. What about bacon, because i had some but then realized that it had 1 carb? Should I just throw it away?

          the lunchmeat:
you could freeze it if it would be worth your while. it may come in useful for something for very quick later on down the road. we've all experienced those kinds of days/weeks. the point is to try to get unprocessed food into your system.

you can look for products as lisa has done, always reading the labels.
one sure bet is to buy chicken or turkey breasts, roasts or hams and slow cook them and slice them. you know what your getting that way.

sorry, forgot to answer about bacon.
you can have bacon. again read those labels and go for the brands that don't add everything including the kitchen sink.

If you have a health foods store in your area you might find something there. When I first started I bought all of my meats at Wild Oats.
For the last few months I've been buying the deli select roast beef (comes in a plastic container), it has 0 carbs and doesn't have a bunch of crap added. I also LOVE the ham from Costco. The slices are thick and there is 0 carbs.
For bacon, try Apple Gate Farms if you can find it. It's all natural w/ out nitrates.
Hormel has some good stuff too, you just have to be very picky and ready your lables!!

                Re: Lunchmeat during Induction

The supermarket close to my house sells Wild 0ats products but not the meat yet. I think i will go with Jimmie's advice and just buy my own and slice it at home.

                Thanks everyone
