  • low carb wraps ok?

Hi there. I got some low carb wraps that have:

    carbs: 12g
    dietary fiber: 8 g

so if the net carbs is 4 for one wrap, is it still ok? It sounds too good to be true. I've read about net carbs but am a little uncomfortable about them.

I had some flank steak in one low carb wrap for lunch (veggies will be for dinner).

    Thanks!

i wish i knew.....i posted earlier that this stuff is so confusing cause my book says i can have things that people who KNOW this diet say i cant, and i get so frustrated cause i never know if i am doing anything right....

even if you find out you cant have them now, you are lucky to have that stuff available..we dont have that stuff here, that i can find yet..seems here in canada they dont have anything lo carb or splenda sweetened...

sorry i couldnt help, but i hope you can find out...

    good luck...

We can't have the low carb wraps until we get to the grains rung of ongoing weight loss because they contain wheat.

      Sorry.

A substitute that sounds VERY weird, but is pretty tasty is to whip egg whites until foamy (like for a meringue pie) and spread thinly on a pizza pan and bake until browned. Then you can use that as a "bread" or "wrap" with pretty much 0 carbs.

What are they made of? If their ingredients are not on the Induction Acceptable Foods list, then they aren't acceptable for Induction

        4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.

        5. Eat nothing that isn't on the Acceptable Foods list. And that means absolutely nothing. Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.

Thanks you for that...great idea! I just can't seem to enjoy a burger without the bun and this just might help.

You might also want to try adding some spice to it, like onion powder or something to give more flavor.

I use it as "bread" for making peanut butter and jelly (once on the nut and berry rung of OWL, not induction).

You could also make "crackers" if you make smaller cookie shaped/sized portions on a cookie sheet and top it with parmesan or asiago cheese and bake it longer for a crispier effect.

Great advice, I would have never thought about the cookie/cracker type ones.

                Re: low carb wraps ok?

Thanks ValidRouge, I'll make the egg-based bread then. Will using egg whites alone keep the "wraps" flexible? I tried making wraps once with the revolution rolls recipe, but it was too tough...but I think I cooked it too long.

Not2late, I'll check the ingredients too when I get home. I better go an re-review the acceptable food list.

Surreys princess, I had a hard time finding the wraps, I had to go to Harris Teeter and hunt them down (they were nice and hidden >.< ). So, when I am on the correct rung, I'll be able to have them again.

                  Lisa Rose,

This thread has some good induction recipes that might help you.
