I know that "The Book" says eat whole veggies but I have never enjoyed them. In fact I detest them. Has anyone drank their veggies as a V8 and been successful. I could add fiber in other places.

Re: Could I have had a V8?
V8 is not allowed on induction. True it's made from veggies, but it's lacking the MOST important part--fiber! So while you're consuming all of the carbs from the veggies, you're drinking none of the fiber.
I thought I hated veggies too, until I tried different ways of preparing them. Some great veggies that people forget about are:
jicama--root veggie, looks like a potato. Tastes sweet and crunchy, like an unripe pear.
pumpkin--mix this with cream cheese, splenda, and cinnamon, and you've got a veggie that tastes like dessert! Make sure you buy canned pumpkin and NOT pumpkin pie filling.
spaghetti squash--cook, shred, and top with pepper, butter, and parmesan cheese, OR a lc tomato based sauce.
cauliflower--I think cauliflower is the most versatile veggie! It can be used as a potato substitute, a rice substitute, anything at all. My favorite way to prepare it is by nuking in a microwave, adding mayo, mustard, and chopped bacon, topping with shredded cheese and baking in the oven until golden and bubbly.
These are just a few ideas. Remember, there are 54 veggies on the acceptable foods list. Check out Linda's Low Carb site for more recipes. Recipes marked with an asterisk (*) are induction-legal.

Re: Could I have had a V8?
If I remember correctly V8 has some non-induction veg juice (carrots and beetroots) as well as the 'legal' ones so even if you choose to drink it you should wait till you reach the starchy vegetable rung where they are allowed!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You don't like veggies, but you like V8?
lol - I just had my first sip of V8 yesterday. Yuck! My kids like them, but I'll pass. Give me real veggies any day, but none of that juice unless it's in soup.
Speaking of that, if you like soup that's a great way to get your veggies in. Ask in the recipe forum and I'm sure you'll get tons of ideas.
Good luck!

Re: Could I have had a V8?
I used to use V-8 to get my fiber. I would disolve a teaspoon full of a fiber compound that had 5 grams of fiber into a V-8 and drink it down REAL fast. Took care of two things at onceStarting weight 228.6

Re: Could I have had a V8?
Yeah, that was kind of the idea. Except I was also going to hold my nose when I drank it really fast.

)! I wish V8 was allowed on induction because I plan to stay on induction for a long time.
