    Hi everyone
I am on day six of induction and have a question for the board. Many of products i look at show low carb or 0 carbs, such as bacon, creamcheese ect. but a list of ingredients show sugar as one of their additives. I know sugar is our biggest enemy so i am reluctant to use any of these products even if it is a trace. What are your opinions on this ?
    Thanks

    Re: sugar content

Sometimes it's hard to find sugar-free bacon or mayo or other products. I empathize with you! I haven't found bacon that is sugar-free or nitrate-free, so I just make sure to eat it in moderation.

Nutrition labels are allowed to put 0 carbs if an item has less than .5g per serving. If an item has .5-.99g per serving, the label will say <1g. To be safe, count the carbs in your servings. If it says 0, I usually count 1/2g or 1g if I have two servings.

The carbs in cream cheese are unavoidable. Almost all cheese has at least 1g carbs per serving--but this is accounted for during induction. Make sure you buy full-fat cheeses, and NOT low-fat or fat-free. Your 20g carbs per day is for 3 cups of veggies, 3 oz. of cheese, and specialty foods like cream or olives. Make sure you keep track of the carbs from cheese, veggies, and special foods and count them in your daily totals.
