  • Day 10, no weight loss since day 5

    Hi Guys,

I wonder if you can help me I am on day 10 of the induction. In the first five days I lost six pounds however since I have put a pound back on and no further loss. I have the book and I'm following it to the letter, I am eating my 3 cups of veggies, eggs, chicken, ham & bacon, fish, beef and cheese (though no more than the recommeded amount and a small amount of cream for sauces with some meals & mayo. The first few days I could feel the pounds coming off though expect it was mostly water as I was continually peeing. I have had about 7 hours excercise in the last 10 days also. The only difference from day 5 is that I have started taking lepicol (phsylium husks -carb free) and calcium, magnesium and potassion supplements as I was having bad leg cramps.

I am drinking the required amount of water daily plus a couple of decaf black coffees, a couple of herbal teas and 1 caffienated tea. I have had the odd carb free (sucralose) flavoured water also. I estimate I am eating between 1100 and 1400 calories per day. any tips on how I can kickstart weight loss again as I seem to have stalled and I'm not cheating honest!!! If I don't see any further loss soon I will be inclined to give it up for easter weekend as we are away and going to two parties!

    Thanks for your help

Re: Day 10, no weight loss since day 5

As long as you are following the Rules and eating off the Induction Foods list, I wouldn't worry about it. You lost 5 pounds. More importantly, you made some very drastic changes to your body and your body needs time to adjust to them.

Also, we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during our 14 days of Induction. So if you have a 100 pound weight loss goal, that's 5-10 pounds. If you have a 10 pounds weight loss goal, that 1/2 to 1 pound.

Have you lost inches? Dr. Atkins told us to weigh and measure yourselves when we begin. According to him, losing inches was a more reliable indicator of the fat emptying from our bodies. The scale doesn't distinguish water retention from fat gain. During my TOM (time of month), I retain 3-7 pounds of water. And since our goal is to lose fat, I don't worry much about water weight "gain".

I lost allot the first week, Im on day 13 and looked at the scales and Im back to around where I was when I started but then a few days before that I was around 168 again. Its an up and down game with the scales and I can see why its recommended to keep away from them. Ive decided if i do get the urge to weigh myself not to pay attention to the numbers as I can feel my clothes getting baggy so thats all that matters to me.

Hang in there dont give up, just keep doing what you are and you will see results.

        Thanks guys,

I had lost another pound this morning on the scale However I had just been to the toilet
I cheated and had a glass of white wine last night, bit annoyed with myself as I had done 10 days clean, however it doesn't seem to have done any harm. I will be good again now!

I'm right there with ya. I'm on my second set of induction and I've lost a total of 11 pounds but the darn scale will not move. Nothings changed...should I move on to the next level?
