For the cravings try decaf green or mint tea and/or sparkling water.... works for me!

Also..... just eating more fat can cut those too...

Have you got DANDR (2002 edition)? You may find you have less cravings by limiting (or better, eliminating) sweeteners as recommended by Atkins to no more than 3 servings/day.

Good luck, and a hearty welcome!

Today is day 2, last night i couldnt sleep at all, My stomache was upset and i felt nausea. I went to bed at about 9:00p.m. and needed bf to shut off all the lights. I was very cranky. This morning I made ham and the smell of it makes me wanna hurl. Im now officially experiencing the side effects, and i dont like it very much haha, but im staying strong

i just started to eat my ham, and i have to force it in my mouth, it tastes so nasty, I dont wanna eat anyone else have this problem, on day 2 already?

Hmmmm...I never had that affect with Atkins.

I wanted to mention the Crystal Light...you might want to avoid it. I can't remember if it has Aspartame in it but I have found that it should be treated as such and be a once in a while kind of thing and not to replace just plain water. I know many people who are resistant to accepting just water and drank Crystal Light and their wl was much slower and resistant than those who avoided it. I treat it like Soda...its a once in a while thing like a treat.

Be careful of Ham too because it often has hidden sugars when they cure it. I hope you feel better...when I feel like that due to my meds in the morning I find just eating celery w/ cream cheese and 0 carb deli meat calm my stomach and fill that hunger.

I hope you feel better...it will get better!

            Hugs, Mel

Re: My success during the first week

Day 2 has ALWAYS been the tester for me. This is when if you stick to your guns, avoiding getting dehydrated by consuming copious amounts of water and making sure electrolytes you lose from the diuretic effect of switching over to ketosis are replaced, and keep yourself full (legally) to avoid cravings, you will pass through the "induction flu" with minimal intensity and duration into the wonderful state of ketosis. This can be accomplished before the end of the day, or sometime day 3 depending on your individual makeup, activity, and food intake. If you do not stick to your guns, you can expect temporary symptoms of weakness lightheadedness moodiness flulike feelings headache etc. and cravings, as your body tries to stay in carb-burning mode. You will also likel feel some of this if you are detoxing from bad substances in your body during this time.End novel...

Re: My success during the first week

i always use a big squirt bottle water bottle (32 oz.) Then whenever my mouth is a bit dry, I give a squirt. I always feel when it is in a glass, you are more accustomed to wanting to finish the whole thing in one sitting. If you have a bottle next to you, you use it throughout the day, and before you know it, you've had 128 oz!

Also you can experiment with the temperature of the water.
Some people can drink it more easily if it is ice cold, some drink more if room temp or even warm.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Just a warning. Crystal Lite screwed me all up. I just have a system that just happens to be sensitive to it. It knocked me out of Ketosis years ago.
