  • Clueless Newbie Question! Induction Foods

Okay I have read my Atkins Essentials book and have my list of Induction foods...etc..etc...
Here is my question which may seem dumb but I don't want to mess up...
The proposed meal plans the book has for induction is the topic...
There are many things on there I simply do not eat.....as long as I replace those things with something of equal net carb value from the approved list, is that ok??
    For example...
    Instead of "Spiced Lamb Chop"
could I have a Chicken breast instead or some other meat substitute?

    Thank you.....
    Tammy

Soliwit is correct - the menus are only suggestions and do not need to be followed if you prefer different dishes than what they suggest.
BTW if you do choose to use their suggestions do make sure by comparing any ingredients in them with the 'allowed foods' list for induction that ALL ingredients are on the list.
The reason I said that is that though /i havent read the 'essentials' book I have read comments that the menus in that book do contain a lot of Atkins company products which contain ingredients NOT allowed on induction, meaning you cannot just follow their menus exactly without eating off-plan!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I agree with soliwit and Elizellen. The menues are useful to give you ideas of what you can eat and they are useful to give you ideas of the 'proper' Atkins serving sizes for foods like meat/protein and added fats.

Otherwise, look over the list and make up a menu that suits your individual tastes.

Awesome...thanks for the information....and yes I think that was one of the probs I had the first time I tried several weeks ago.....I had some "misinformation" about allowable foods!!
          Thanks again!
