  • Wide Awake

I'm on day five of a clean induction and have dropped @4lbs.I'm not bouncing off the walls with energy yet but I have noticed its harder to fall asleep at night,I'm wired. Its currently 11:46pm and I can't sleep, normally I would have been snoring at 9pm before my kids went to bed. This would be after dinner with potatoes, bread or some thing high in simple carbs or with something sweet. I'm not hungry and I ate dinner at six pm followed by two glasses of water.....It's troublesome because I'm a light sleeper any how. Its the same thing that always happens to me when I start to loose weight and work out, I have a difficult time sitting still ...Ithink this is why I got fat in the first place the food was a sedation when the kids were little and I couldn't go out and do anything for myself due to lack of money or a sitter so I ate and slept and got fat. There was not much else for me to do being a single mother.I realized this today while my kids are gone for the week out of state with their father.I have to give myself permission to get back in to life there is no reason to stay still and at home now that they're older.
I'm rambling.Main question was does anyone else notice that they seen to need less sleep while on a clean induction?

    Re: Wide Awake

Absolutely!! In fact many people have posted that their house has never been cleaner or tidier since they have felt the urge to busy themselves instead of resting or sleeping as much as they used to before Atkins.
It is great how not eating those high carb foods lets us be full but not 'sedated'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Definitely less sleep. And I have better sleep in that shorter amount of time.

          Re: Wide Awake

Actually I am really tired in my body at the evening. Try to work out until you get kind of exhausted, I promise you, you will fall asleep while your head is touching the pillow...

I find that I sleep very deeply, like a stone, since I started this. Before Atkins I could wake up a lot and having kind of a light sleep. So I am getting much more out of my resting hours.

Take care that you aren't hungry before sleeping, so have a good dinner that will satisfy you. What about coffee, are you drinking it? Maybe you're reacting more to the coffein when on diet...

Or it is just the changes your body is going trough, which makes you feel a bit speedy?

You'll be fine... If you can't fall to sleep at all, just go up again and do something, read a book, wash some laundry whatever. The tiredness will come sooner or later...

            Re: Wide Awake

Yes, I drink coffee. My last cup was at 3pm in the afternoon.i ended up falling asleep at 2:30am last night.I have noticed I've been cleaning more around the house,I can't stand sitting staring at the TV like before because my body feels restless. I did go thru a tired stage with the induction flu about a week ago and I slept ALOT for about 3 days now that the sugar is out of the system ,the ole body is ready to go. One more pound is gone this morning.Between my not so clean first induction and the latest clean induction I'm down 11 pounds in two weeks!!!289lbs to 278 lbs.I can't wait to get to 250 because that will mean a smaller Jean size!!!!

              Re: Wide Awake

I am on day 3 of induction- I actually started weaning myself off of carbs and sugar a week prior to starting- I have been having trouble sleeping the whole time...somtimes I can't get to sleep before 3 am( which is bothering me because my 7 1/2 month old wakes up between 6 and 8am) I have been getting out for a walk every day so far- it's the most I can do right now, and that seems to make me more tired....last night I was able to fall asleep 30 mins after getting into bed- which is a lot better! If you continue to have trouble sleeping- you can always try taking a supplement of melatonin- when taken nightly for a week it can reduce the amount of time it takes to fall asleep and improve quality of sleep. only take for a week as it resets your sleep patterns.
