Re: 2nd day one **** of a headache
You should absolutely NOT be eating zero carbs.
You should be eating 3 cups of vegetables per day. No more, no less.
Atkins is NOT a no-carb diet, it is a low carb diet where we eat HEALTHY carbohdrates in the form of vegetables.~Joy

Oh, and yes the headache is normal as we detox from the nasty white stuff.
Seriously though, eat your vegetables.~Joy

Yes, anytime you go through detox from addictions, you will get a headache whether it is smoking, drinking, drugs, caffeine or sugar. Read the induction forum to find out what you should be eating. Joy is right, it is very important that you eat your vegetables and follow the program as Dr. Atkins suggested. If you are depriving your body, you are not eating right, you'll be miserable and it will be harder for you to stay on the program. If you haven't gotten the book, DANDR (Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002), then it is definitely something you should read. It tells you exactly how the program is done, what to eat, why, case studies, scientic research and recipes. I've probably read mine a dozen or more times and still reach for it from time to time.
Get active in the forums, make friends, educate yourself on the do's and don'ts, make a plan to succeed and have fun! Best wishes, we are all here for you!Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: 2nd day one **** of a headache
Not only are they normal when you detox from the white stuff, but also normal if you decide at some point to have a nibble of white stuff when you are detoxed from it! The BEST thing to do is to follow the plan, drink lots of water to flush out the toxins, and take some medication for pain if it gets reallllllly unbearable. No need to tough it out.
Eat your veggies! Your mom probably told you to and so will we! So go get a salad! It is good for you. And eating less than the recommended 3 cups of veggies a day will harm your weight loss in the long run, not help it. Believe me I know this from family experience.

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!

Re: 2nd day one **** of a headache
Yes...definitely eat those veggies... going without them won't make you lose any faster, and if you eat too little your body will lapse into starvation mode and your weight loss will slow dramatically, if not stop.
As the others said, what you're feeling now is induction flu, which is your body weaning itself off those pesky "white" carbs. It won't last more than a few days, then you'll feel a real surge of energy.
Happy losing!Before and after:
