  • Craving Sweets on Induction

I restarted atkins today and I'm craving something sweet. I know I dont need anything sweet but does anyone have any suggestions? What do you do when you are craving something sweet?

Eat something high-fat! Kudos to you for knowing that it's not wise to feed a craving.

If a craving strikes, eat some egg salad, pepperoni and mozzarella, veggies and dip, etc. The BEST crispy snacks are pepperoni crisps and cheese crisps.

Put pepperoni slices on a piece of parchment paper and nuke until crispy. These things are awesome! For the cheese version, take VERY small chunks of cheese and spread out on parchment paper, nuke until crispy. These taste like cheez-its! Great stuff.

There's also a really good treat. Only have it once in a while though....I think it was Dream who told me about these.

Take 1oz cream cheese, nuke it for like 10 sec until smooth, add some cocoa powder and some splenda. You can eat it like that or put it in the freezer and its like eating a piece of fudge!! I swear to you that it saved me the other day. But remember about the 3-4 oz rule for cheese.

        Hope this helps!

I'm on day 2 of induction and had a craving for something sweet this evening... have tried to fool my craving that drinking water is just as good as chocolate, but its having none of it! Are we allowed sugar free jello on induction?

When I was a newbie, I was advised by the moderators at ADBB to "KILL YOUR SWEET TOOTH!!!!"

Feeding it artificially sweetened foods/snacks can be as bad as feeding it sugar. There's a sticky thread near the top of this forum called "Addicted to Sweets?". Please read it.

                Re: Craving Sweets on Induction

The last time I did induction I did eat SF jello but I had worse cravings for sweets when I did. This time around I am not going to eat any SF treats at least until induction is over. I feel like it might help me to detox from the carbs faster. I am only eating what is in the book a "clean induction" I guess thats what they are calling it. The last 2 nights I have had a horrendous craving for something sweet. I usually dont crave anything sweet even when I wasn't on atkins but I would crave starchy stuff like pasta and breaded fried foods. So the craving for the sweets is kind of new for me. Instead of eating something sweet I went for the pork rinds and they helped the first night and last night I made the 'cheese crisps' which are pretty good. I have heard that you can kill your sweet tooth by replacing it with something salty. Whether that is true or not I dont know. I just know it worked for me the last 2 nights.

                    Re: Craving Sweets on Induction

I am avoiding sweets right now at all costs. Day 5 of induction and the cravings are lessening. And I have a HUGE sweet tooth - as in, I regularly substituted cake or cookies for my MEALS - yikes! So for me, cutting them out altogether right now is the only way to go. Hang in there, it WILL pass. I also had sf jello the first time and it didn't stall me, but after I would finish one I would desperately crave another.
