  • How about cocosmilk?

This is a "may I or not" question again... I love the flavour of cocos in my food and as I am still in Induction... I am wondering...

It is extra rich cocos milk, the highest amount of fat you can buy, so to say no light product with tons of stabilisators and flavours. I always used ths one even before Atkins.

This is what the label shows:

    Nutrition/100 g
    800 kj/190 kcal
    Protein: 3g
    Kolhydrat: 3g (carbs)
    Fett: 18 g

The 1 Million $ questions - may I have this instead of heavy cream? If it is a nono under Induction, is it allowed later after leaving Induction?

I used coco milk while on induction for a recipe... but not in place of heavy cream since the coco milk has 3g vs. like, 0g carbs. So to not answer your question, I have no idea, but I did.

I have never even heard of coco milk. Hopefully Megs or someone will be able to offer you the truth.

It is made of coconuts and mostly used in Thai food or any other Asian influenced recipe. You’ll find it in Creole dishes as well. Actually it is great to bake cakes and cookies with as well, but hey, no baking anyway…

        It's delicious...

The canned stuff I have doesn't have sugar, and is basically fat... but it's one of those weird things that not a lot of people use.

I *am* telling the truth, Rich. Geez.

I didnt say you werent telling the truth! And maybe my use of the word truth was the wrong choice of word. What I meant was that someone like Megs can offer the answer.

            Lyssie, you said yourself

Nuts aren't allowed on Induction. Coconuts are nuts, therefore, not allowed in any form on Induction.

I just bought some of this and cannot wait to use it! It is Organic Lite coconut milk, with 1 total carb per 2 tablespoons. Looking very forward to experimenting with it!

Nope... you can't ... sorry. It's not allowed. I mean you can TRY it but you're not on Atkins or on induction... you're on something else.

Just don't risk it is my advice.

FYI.... I tried it and it stalled me. I just took the advice of the board and did a REAL induction.

Once you get more familiar with your body you can figure out what you can and can NOT have. That's the whole point of OWL of course.

                    Sheila.......

Coconut milk is GREAT..... but I assume you're past the induction phase.

After you're done induction it's awesome. High fat and VERY delicious.

I'd totally recommend getting a Thai book and learning how to cook some curries. Theyr'e basically veges, coconut milk, and fish. Thai people eat them with rice but obviously you'd want to bypass that step.

There are coconut soups you can make to...

Tom Ka Gai is AWESOME... Get a recipe for it

                        Hi Sheila!

Don't buy the light version, buy the real heavy extra rich cocos milk. You'll have more taste, more fat and less artificial stuff like all the E-numbers.... You know, I am a hippie concerning food, the less industrial the better...
I haven't been in any kind of Fast Food Restaurant in almost a decade... There are plenty of food products I would never eat because of all the E-numbers, the glutamat and all the other s***! Coke or Sprite? 2-3 times a year, mixed with the same amount of water otherwise it is undrinkable - too sweet...

Whatever, rich coccos milk looks like heavy cream, but of course you can't whisp it. It goes perfect with almost any fish, with shrimps, with all kinds of vegetables. Fry some sliced gingerroot, some garlic, add chillipeppar or curry, add vegetabels and some fish. Get in some cocos milk and enjoy it.

It will definately work to make ice cream with it - at least I can imagine this. Mix it with the yellow of an egg and sweetener, maybe you want to add some real vanilla powder or almond bits or strawberries... Get it in the Ice Maker and freeze it. Wow, I am getting hungry...

Sheila, I haven't told you yet, but you are one of my idols on this board. You are an inspiration to me and I love your picture coming up the stairs! Probably I will put it on the fridge one day, it's just more real with a real woman instead of some modell that is kind of out of space...

Burtonator: Yes, I am finished with the Induction phase - and indeed coconut milk is not cited in the finite list of allowable foods and as such is a product best suited for subsequent phases of the program.

Tack, Stargirl! Really, the only reason I picked up the "Lite" one - a version I have not purchased of any food or product for years - is because, oddly enough, it was lowest in carbohydrates out of all the coconut milk there. But of course, this was just a one-store experience, and I will be on the lookout for other brands and thank you sincerely for your recommendation.

On a similar note, I keep hearing about coconut cream (albeit not the sugar-laden types like the one below meant for mixed drinks) and would love to try it. Any fans? Unfortunately, it is not available at any of the Dallas-area stores I have checked with, but it seems interesting!

I've never heard of cream, I grew up with the coconut milk... I have to agree with Stargirl about the full fat one vs. light ones... I don't think I've ever seen a light one with less carbs... then again, I usually buy *one* specific brand no matter where I am.
