  • 11 days into induction-no loss

I am new here......I love the board!

Needless to say, I'm pretty discouraged! I did have my TOM during the first week, but that's passed and no loss still.

I had a question on the bars & shakes; the packaging states "appropriate for induction"....is this accurate? I didn't have any of themt he first week, but this week I have been super busy and have used them for meal replacement and snacks...I still have a couple cups of greens and a protein at dinner. Either way, no loss either week.

I have nothing with nutrasweet in it, I drink lots of water every day, I do partake in a cup of coffee each morning, but have decaf tea the rest of the day, and only a couple cups of that.

    Is this normal?

    Hi there!

I read this board I think from start to finish before I started my induction, and it seems that the common belief is that those bars can be real stallers. I've seen them referred to as 'frankenfoods' on the board!

Do a search on the blue banner above and you'll find loads of threads with info on them.

If I were you I'd skip the bars for the next week and see what happens.
Bet you'll be posting in a weeks time with a loss!

Please take a look at this thread. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=3982 The foods on this list should be the only things that you are consuming within the first 14 days.

There are somethings that aren't on the list like Heinz One Carb Ketchup that is okay if you only use alittle. The ingredients in this ketchup are all on the acceptable food list. Make sure to check the labels on all the foods that buy.

      Good luck!!

I'm going to bet that it's the shakes & bars that is keeping you from losing weight. Remember, the companies that create them are out to make a profit and aren't concerned about your weight loss success.
Cut them out and stick to healthy, natural foods and I'll bet you'll see the scale moving.

Re: 11 days into induction-no loss

The first week you had TOM... the second week bars and shakes. Two reasons for not seeing any progress. I'd definitely try a couple of weeks without those and I bet you'll start losing.

It also helps a lot to drink simply masses of water and to spread the 3 cups of veggies throughout the day to avoid blood sugar surges and cravings.

Re: 11 days into induction-no loss

From what I have read on here the shakes and bars are not good for induction.
I tend to get busy as well. I found the best thing that helped me out a great deal is to make things a head of time and put them in the freezer take them out a few days a head of time. I use the recipes on this site. usehttp://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/induction_menus/induction_menus.html the recipes I drink a ton of water as well about 100 oz a day, try and drink a lot of water if you can. I could be wrong on this one but I think some people said coffee can stall some people as well. I hope any of this helps you. Good luck and don't lose hope you can do it.

Hi there....welcome to the board...it is a great place....
I did the same thing as you my first go around with induction.....used the shakes and bars for fillers when I was in a pinch....although the bars I knew had too many carbs so I would have like half one whatever....but realized after my first week with no loss and got very discouraged that something I was doing was not right....
Then I also started taking a look at ingredients in some of the things I was buying....you just have to be careful...
There are some great recipes that you can use for induction on this site....and what helped me the MOST...well other than my book and the lists was using a program that helped me take a look at what I was really eating...carb wise, fat, protien..etc..etc...
I joined FitDay - and I'm still adding some of my custom meals to it....
And I think someone already mentioned this but cook some things up you can freeze over the weekend....it will save you so much time and frustration.....
                  Hugs,

Re: 11 days into induction-no loss

The atkins.com website used to have a page where they stated clearly that
'some people find that they experience a halt in weightloss while consuming these products.'(referring to the bars and shakes) !!!
Their advice if that happens to you was to 'consider dropping the use of the bars and shakes'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
