  • turkey bacon?

HI.. I just noticed that the turkey bacon i had been using has SUGAR in it. GRR
It has less than one carb per serving...so i didnt really look at the ingredients before. So should i just go back to reg bacon? I dont want any trace of anything that will affect my induction. Does anyone else use turkey bacon?

Indymom, have you any idea what percentage the sugar is in that brand of turkey bacon? I know you said it was less than 1% but any idea on the exact amount?

Also, can you list the ingredients, in the order that they are shown on the package?

          Re: turkey bacon?

I would say stay away from it and eat seasoned pork cuts or chops instead.I had been eating Jennie-o turkey bacon and using no carb creamer till a couple weeks ago and I can now get the keto stix to change color ,not hungry and loosing weight.I would stay with any thing not processed porkchops ,beef ,chicken ,hamburger, tuna ,heavy whipping cream and so on ....I currently stay away from all things processed and marked diet on the package, low fat ect....and I'm now having great results. I don't eat eggs like I did either my first time out because they cause my stomach to hurt and cramp.
Try getting some thin sliced pork chops and soaking them in a marinade of liquid smoke, salt and other flavoring of your choosing and sub it for the bacon.....

I've been eating Turkey Bacon too, and I *thought* I had looked at the package, but now I am not so sure. I'll have to check tonight. It's just so much easier for me to cook than regular bacon.

                Re: turkey bacon?

Thank you for all your replies. Im going to take your suggestions and stay away from it.
It was the Oscar Mayer- Louis Rich brand.
                ingredients:
turkey, mechanically separated turkey, water, salt, sugar, sodium lactate, canola oil, sodium diacetate, sodium phosphates, smoke flavor, sodium erythorbate, autolyzed yeast extract, sodium nitrite. yumm
calories 35, total carb less than 1g, protein 2g

I didnt feel that hot after eating it. I thought it was the nitrates/nitrites...now i realize it was probably the sugar too. Why do they have to stick sugar in everything.

Scooterjam- yay Indiana! WTG Colts! lol I just moved to Fishers..where r u?

                  Re: turkey bacon?

i dont touch the stuff....all the turkey bacon here has potato starch..

i use reg bacon that i can find without sugar, and i make it in the oven so it is easier to clean up....

when all else fails, i get the real bacon bit things in a crunch, for a fix....
