  • Newbie NEEDING atkins wisdom

Well I started Atkins on Wednesday and so far so good, I was ill all yesterday but was unrelated and was so tempted to reach for some buttered toast or a banana but I resisted!!
Hmm, although naughty, I took a sneaky peak this morning and I've lost about 5 and a bit pounds so far, having got about 30 to lose all in all, I have an excerise bike which I use for 20 mins a day and will gradually build this up time wise, as well as dog walks and generally being active...is that about right?
I'm being really careful to be good, I want to get happier about how I look and feel so I thought atkins was the best bet.

Any words of wisdom on anything such as excerise, and general motivation, as well as having a smaller weight loss goal then others? will it be more tricky to lose? Thanks xx

I don't really have any words of wisdom because I am just getting back into the swing of things myself.

I just wanted to say "hi". I thought it was funny we started on the same day, with almost the same starting weight and same goal weight. Pretty funny!!

The words of wisdom I can give you is do not get hung up on the scale. Try not to weigh yourself all the time, and do no be alarmed when a week goes by and you havent lost anything. And under no circumstance should you weigh yourself anytime near your TOM. Stick with it and it will pay off. I see more postings of people who are so frustrated because their weight loss slows or stops for awhile. It is a natural thing. Push through it if it happens to you. Also come in here often and read peoples stories, ideas, and support.

My advice I would offer is to drink water until your eyes float. The water helps suppress appetite, and helps flush fat away. I also noticed since I have been drinking more I stopped having so many hot flashes too. (Only 28 and felt like I was going through the change of life )
Definately stay away from the scale around T.O.M, this is hard for me cause I am a scale-aholic. They definately need a support group for me and those like me. lol

            Good luck girlie!

              Hello,

Glad that you are doing well with this WOL!!! Hope that you are feeling better as well. The only thing that I can tell you is, being prepared is the only way that I do not fail. I usually cook my meals for the week on Sundays, this helps me as I also have to cook for my DH and daughter, so while I am cooking for them, I already have my meals ready and can eat them while I am preparing their meals.

              Good Luck!!!

                Re: Newbie NEEDING atkins wisdom

Welcome....I am pretty new myself.....my first week will be tomorrow
It's amazing how good you will begin to feel....for some it's a bit later but it hit me about day 5.....I can't wait to continue to look and feel even better....
I don't have a lot of weight to lose but being short 5'1" - every pound counts.....for me it's just learning a whole new way to live and think about food, exercise and so much more....
                Hang in there......cheering for you!
                Hugs,
