I started induction last monday. I had lost 4 pounds. I got to the weekend and cheated and I'm feeling so awful about not being able to finish anything, that I am having a hard time starting induction again. I am so down. And so fat. And so frustrated. I cheated all weekend. Well, I cheated on Friday night and then I said forget it. Just needed to get that out.

Re: Down
It can be tough getting into the groove. There's so much to think about, adjust, prepare, etc. It can take a few stumbles to see what pitfalls are out there. And that's ok, this is one HUGE learning experience for many, MANY of us! The biggest temptation is to quit. Fight that one hard! Your health is so worth the battle!

Re: Down
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad
But you've gotten some great advice here! You CAN do this! Don't revel in what you have already done and can't change. Focus on what you CAN do and change! We are all here to support you and help you along. We've all been there and done that--just depends on how you let it affect you from this moment forward!

Re: Down
I fell off the wagon for almost a year and gained it all back. I just couldn't seem to get back on track, couldn't get the ambition up. A very good friend put it in perspective for me.
I wanted it all and I wanted it now. That's an impossible goal to reach. Once I readjusted my thinking, and started commiting to this WOE with every bite I took, it has become much easier. We are all human and we Will make mistakes. Forgive yourself, and each time you are tempted ask yourself if that "little" indulgence is worth falling off the wagon.
Good luck!!! You CAN do it.MAY 2010 Challenges

Re: Down
Mommyfat,
Induction isn't easy. A few years back I did a clean induction for about 4 weeks and lost a bunch of weight, around 10 kilos. I was close to 99 kilos at the end of my induction and felt great. I ended up going to my wife's parents in Japan and basically left the diet. I ballooned back up to 114 kilos within a month putting on another 4 kilos on top of my 10 I lost. I was pretty depressed but after awhile I started to think about why I gained the weight back after i lost it.
Only within the last year have I begun to focus on developing a stable basic diet which is derived from the last steps of the atkins dealing with lifetime maintence. Atkin's says this regarding that subject:
know you CCLM (critical carb level for maintence)
eat natural nutrient rich carbs
exercise
take a vitamin
deal with your temptations and failures
don't let your weight go 5lbs above your goal weight or current weight at all.
The advice is pretty basic and almost any dietician will tell you something similar in different wording, nowadays.
If you are in induction then stop for whatever reason only to fall into a healthy way way of eating like Lifetime Maintence, I don't see any reason to feel like I am cheating myself. If you stop induction only to end up falling into an eating pattern that causes you to gain weight, then I guess you can surmise that your basic eating habits need some tweaking. Does this happen for you?Grovemonkey

Re: Down
Try to think in small steps and one meal at a time instead of too far into the future.
So set a goal of eating the next meal/snack onplan. If you can then
try for another cheatfree meal/snack.
If not then
forgive yourself and try for a better result with the next meal/snack
Failure is not in the falling down but not the getting up after falling down
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
