  • Day 4

Hi! I'm sitting here reading alot of the entries and realizing how great this is. I'm on day 4 and I'm kinda tired. But that could be because my 11 year olds baseball game wan't over until 10 p.m. and we had been there since 5:30(time mix up on when we should have been there). I did pretty good I hope. There wasn't a big selection at the food stand and I was starving! The young girls just looked at me so funny when I made them go into detail about exactly what they had left to order. They kept pushing the popcorn and I finally insisted firmly not to offer that again. The popcorn was already made and bagged up for them. I finally got to order a hamburger pattie and they melted a piece of cheese on it for me with a bottle of water. I hope that was ok. It was the best I could do. They didn't have any vegies washed so I couldn't get any to go with it. Yesterday at work for lunch I had a slice of 3 oz roasted turkey breast with green beans and a salad. I took the turkey and chopped it up and put it into the salad. It was pretty good. Does it sound like I'm on the right track? I have to take my son to the ENT doctor today and he wants to eat at a new mexican place that has been getting great reviews. I'm a little nervous because rice is the biggest thing there. I love rice but I know to say NO! I've come to far now to give in to rice. Thanks to everyone who has responded so quickly and nicely. I look forward to everyday and checking. Everyone has been so helpful. I'm trying to hold off until Monday to weigh again. I'm not real good with computers so I don't know what to get my stat to stay on here with every entry. But I'm trying to remember to type them in each time. Again, thanks so much.

    Re: Day 4

    Hi Missy
    Welcome to our ADBB family
Well done on holding out for some more 'legal' food than popcorn
Your turkey salad sounded just right - did you have some dressing with it - remember we need to have fat with our protein and veggied!!

I'm not sure what foods will be available at a Mexican restaurant, but I am sure you will be able to ask for a mixed leaf salad or some green vegetables instead of the rice.

I often phone new restaurants beforehand to ask what food choices they offer, explaining that I cant eat starchy or sugary foods and so far have never been left with nothing to order! I feel better knowing in advance what is likely to be available, so I can think in advance what to order and dont get flustered or embarrassed about my choice.

Remember restaurants want you to enjoy what you eat and come back again, so it is in their interests to work with you to find suitable dishes for you to eat.

BTW to get your stats to appear in each post you need to add the info to your signature (add your height and gender too if you like) which you can do by
    1. click on the link called 'User CP' at the top of each page
    2. select the 'Edit signature' option on the left side
    3. type your info in the box that appears
    4. click on 'preview signature' to see if you have laid it out how you want to
    5. when happy click on 'save signature'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Day 4

A smart Atkineer learns quickly to avoid situations with unwholesome temptations. As delicious as Mexican food can be, most of those places start out the meal with a big basket of you-know-what right on the table and it goes downhill from there.

      Don't go there.

Buffet restaurants often provide a variety of low carb choices. Tell your loved ones to take you to a buffet style restaurant that has lots of meat, fish, eggs, and veggie choices instead.

Take your health seriously, stand up to family and friends - when you areclear about what you need they will be delighted to support you.
