Salad dressing with 2g or less per serving is legal on induction. Your dressing should be OK.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Bacon Ranch Dressing from Hidden Valley
I would stick to 1 or 2 servings per day at most...I used ranch all the time on induction and never had problems. However, this type of stuff affects everyone differently.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Bacon Ranch Dressing from Hidden Valley
Strictly by the book it isnt legal!!Originally posted by CharliWHEW! I just found this same dressing and saw sugar in the ingredients and was feeling guilty about considering it for induction.
I'm glad it's legal! Won't overdo it though...
Dr Atkins says
However as many people cant find a make of commercial dressing without added sugar (listed in the ingredients) they tend to make the best of a bad job and choose the brand with the least carbs per serving. For example the mayonnaise I use from Lidl has sugar listed on the ingredients, but only 0.9 carbs per 100 grams (3.5 ounces) so I know it has minimal sugar, so I feel it is safe to use in moderation.Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per tablespoon serving are also fine.
If your chosen dressing lists one serving of one tablespoonful (levelled - not heaped) as being 2 carbs then make sure you measure out the serving a few times so you can easily stick to the serving size. It is easy to overeat servings if you are guessing them!!
A tablespoon sized measuring spoon is easy to have in your pocket when eating out to be on the safe side at first, in time you will be able to 'eyeball' it fairly accurately. If it seems too large for your comfort then a teaspoon size is smaller and less obvious, and 3 teaspoons=1 tablespoon.
I read on these forums that in USA there ARE brands without sugar (I think I recall the name 'Dukes' being mentioned) so you might have luck in finding one without it at all if you read all the labels!!
Many Atkineers make their own dressings without sugar or even any artificial sweeteners at all by the way.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
