  • A few food questions

I am just starting week 2 of induction. Zero loss so far. I have a few questions about some of the foods I was eating on week 1.

Are the following bad for induction?

Oscar Mayer Cheese Dogs (I love these things)
Pepperoni in the little pillow packs
Oscar Mayer Bologna (sliced thin from the deli)

Also, I think I might be going at this a bit wrong. When I look at the frozen veggies in the cooler I see they have 1-3 carbs per serving. Are these ok?
I dont have a lot of time to fix fresh veggies (which I know are the best) so I was going to try out the "steam in bag" veggies.

And the last question I had was about lettuce. I have been buying the baby spinach leaves and using those for my salad. I love them more than anything but I am afraid i might get bored with them soon. I have seen the bags of shredded lettuce in the store (near the bagged salad kits) but they contain 2-3 carbs per serving. Would this be because of something added to them or in that the natural amount of carbs for lettuce? (Ingredients list says only "lettuce")

    Thanks,
    Brian

Most of the processed meat products like hot dogs and cold cuts contain anywhere from 1 to 7 net carbs per serving. They also contain quite a bit of sodium. For some of us, sodium causes water retention, so if you lost 3 pounds of body fat, but retained 3 pounds of water, the old scale will say you haven't lost weight.

The majority of our daily carbs should be from vegetables. So don't be afraid to eat any of the vegetables on the Induction Acceptable Foods list. There are 54 Induction safe veggies: about 20 veggies on the "salad" vegetable list and the remainder on the "other" vegetable list.

When you get to the other Atkins weight loss phases, you'll be eating more vegetables than the USDA's 5 servings daily. So veggies are your friends on Atkins.

Be aware that some vegetables are not Induction friendly, like carrots and peas, and some frozen vegetables contain sauces that are not Induction friendly.

      Re: A few food questions

I read your questions and I chuckled........I was on Atkins diet last year and your question is ME......I was eating the hot dog w/cheese, spinach and frozen veggies......etc....I now through the help of the message board have figured out why the atkins diet did not work for me the first time.............anyways eating the cheese dog is ok, spinach is perfect, frozen plain veggies such as broccli, califlower, are good but NO carrots or peas......bok choy, celery, broc, cali, mushrooms are perfect.........
I found out that sweet n low, splenda...u need to count as 1 carb but it can also make u crave more sugar and stall ur diet.........also...no caffine or soda.........eating the low carb atkins bars and drinks.........are...death to ur diet plan...........

psyllium husk seed capsules or powder works perfect for constipation and so does the new fibersure.......no taste no thickness.........

stay away from aspartame......low carb bars and drinks, and sugar free candies, no carb candies............
