  • Question about foods

Helo everyone. I am on the 14 day pahse (started yesterday). yesterday I had one cup of salad and 5 bacon strips. Is Bacon okay?

The brand I got is California Pride (Walmart) and it has the following specs:

    Total Fat 7g
    Sat. Fat 3g
    Cholesterol 15mg
    Sodium 280mg
    Total Carb 0g
    Sugars 0g
    Protein 5g

From what I see this is okay right?
Is there an acceptable hot dog brand as well? How about acceptable Bread? Going without Bread is killing me.

Also, is Sliced American cheese like Kraft acceptable? I didn't quite understand this post:

    Re: Question about foods

bacons fine, just be careful because of the sodium, might make you retain some water!

Cant help you on the hotdogs, maybe someone else can?

and no... no bread, no... no... no...

theres things you can make instead of bread go look in the recipes section for Atkins Revolutionary Rolls... make sure you pick recipes that are induction friendly!

I think Hebrew National is your best bet with hot dogs. Or try a local butcher and ask what they put into theirs.

Ah ok thanks everyone. I knew bread was bad, but I am literally addicted to them and WAFFLES!

I'll try the recipe for the revolutionary rolls.

Eventually, once you go thru the rungs, if you don't have any issues with wheat you may be able to have high fibre multigrain breads again. Don't worry, Bread may not be out of your life forever. I think this is one of the reasons it's very important to go through OWL.

I was able to add in low carb bread (Nature's Own brand) when I did Atkins before and still lost while eating it a few times a week, however I waited a loooong time to add it back in. Definitely cut it out now, or this won't work - best of luck

Unfortunately not I culdn't find anything else that tasted good but was still atkins approved, so I decided if I am not going to eat right, I am not going to eat at all. Honestly, I ate Waffle and peanut butter and Jelly Sandwiches prior to induction (Instead of regular bread, I used waffles).

I ate that for breakfast and lunch about 5 times a week. All I can stomach eating is grilled chicken, bacon, salada/tomatoes, and broccoli
