  • salsa and gum on induction

I can't find a reference to gum other than sugar alcohol in general, but I chew a piece of sugarless gum after lunch. I know it has sugar alcohol...do you think its ok on induction since it's a tiny amount?

Also, I add a tablespoon of salsa to my ground beef or ground turkey. My salsa label said sugar...gaaaahhhh!!! Does anyone know a salsa with no added sugar that tastes good? or maybe a recipe that I could use for my induction phase?

    Thanks

Re: salsa and gum on induction

I have on occasion used the gum with no ill effects but I limited myself to one piece a day. This time around I haven't bought any.

Not sure on the salsa but I'd LOVE some homemade salsa recipes!!

Wow. I'm not awake. I swore the title on this post was 'Salsa Gum'.

I did a triple take. That would be really bad.

Gum - Frankenfood - no no.

Salsa, lots of recipes, to make your own, with no sugar.....goood stuff....if you can't find a recipe let me know, I'll look in my books!

For Salsa, I want to say Old El Paso chunky does not have added sugar. I don't have any in the house right now to check, but I know there is one national brand with no sugar.

Pace Picante has no added sugar (going to get some from the tomato no matter what).

Er, uhm...I'm a gum chewer (please don't hurt me ). However, I mostly stick with Trident with Xylitol...(1 g carb, 1g sugar alcohol) because of having slight TMJ and DD11 having braces. It's better to chew gum than pop a Tylonal every day, for both of us. And, I must say, it's been a life saver for times when we go to friends for dinner or when there's cookies around at school. But like everything else, moderation is good.

As for Salsa...I've found making my own is great; especially right now when it's sooo close to Cinco de Mayo and the markets are flowing with fresh makings. Have fun!

also, a lot of grocery stores make their own salsa. The Safeway where i shop has a little section where they have their own brand of salsa, which is made of just chopped tomatoes and spices, no sugar. It's not kept with the rest of the salsa brands in the store, so maybe check around for something like that. I use it everyday
