Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Welcome to the board, and good luck! Getting through the first few days are the roughest IMO, so be sure to post often if you need assistance or encouragement. I found if I was posting I couldn't be eating stuff I shouldn't.

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Thats exactly what got me motivated. It wasnt to be thinner, or feel better for me, it was for my little boys. I have 3 boys, who were 6, 2 & 2 (twins). On a saturday morning I never wanted to get out of bed, by the time I dragged myself up, got us all dressed and ready to go, get to the park, then I was too knackered out to do anything but sit on the bench, and pray for time to pass so we could go home for a nap......THEY DESERVED SO MUCH MORE OUT OF MOM. I cant tell you how exciting it was to take them to McDonalds and I actually fit in the tubes with them!!!
I stuck to it...cheat free for MONTHS at a time....then fell off the wagon big time. I'm here, 2nd time around to get back my energy level and my "Hot" mom figure....

Welcome to our ADBB family, wrjordan
You have the best of motivation with your little one and we are all here to help you stick to it!!
My advice to anyone would be to make sure you plan in advance what you are intending to eat and prepare 'legal' foods for meals and snacks, so if you feel hungry you can easily grab something on-plan!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Thank you all for the support, today was a difficult day, my son was eating Mickey Ds and i was so tempted, but i didnt do it........phew....... anyways, day 3, very difficult but i have to go on..........How often should i weigh myself?? is it ok to use poppyseed which is like ranch for dressing on salad? its sweet. Anyways off to bed ps i had the worst headache all day and felt like i was going to fall down from being dizzy, bought an atkins bar and noticed after the fact that it had peanuts,,,, OOOOOOps guess am back to one, i will think of it as an extension of induction .........thanks all much love, will post a pic of me real soon

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Well done for resisting the temptation of your son's food
As for the dressing, I would look at the list of ingredients to make sure it doesnt have much in the way of added sugar.
Try to get into the habit of reading the ingredients of any foods before eating them even if you dont have time before you buy them. That Atkins bar could have been put away till you reach the correct rung of OWL!!
Next time you feel dizzy and feel the need to eat something, make sure it is one of the allowed snacks you have prepared ready for these occasions (you have got some sorted out ready?). Probably a piece of cheese or meat would have made you feel better just as quickly as eating a processed food like the bar and would hav been 'legal',Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Can I suggest you start off with a fast? One day of fasting, I took Hoodia Gordonii (not the fake kind but the active ingredient one costs about $60.00 Can for a bottle, to break the hunger) I needed it only for three days and there was no hunger on the Induction diet afterwards. Choose your day carefully when you are going to have as little stress as possible. If that day doesn't work, give yourself a break for a few days and then try again when you are ready to.
It helps if you have a goal that really matters to you. Mine was (among other things) to get into my riding gear. The leathers costs over a thousand dollars, my summer riding gear is also that expensive, and last year I didn't ride for several months because the clothes were too tight and uncomfortable. So I had looked after my motorcycles all winter, then paid insurance (very expensive in Canada) and then found I couldn't ride because my riding gear was uncomfortable and I didn't want to spend so much money on another set. (Good looking riding gear for females is hard to come by.) This year I suddenly noticed in April that I am a bit too fat again for the clothes and by golly, I was going to ride this summer.
You need to choose a goal that means something to you and it helps if you have a deadline to meet. Mine was when the snow melts and I can ride again.Last edited by Kawispice; May 5, 2007, 11:29 AM.

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
It is NOT recommended to fast before starting Atkins. In fact following Atkins doesnt mean fasting or going hungry EVER!!
Plan your meals and snacks in advance so you will know what food you are going to eat and not have to make a sudden decision which might be a false one.
As you said you 'let yourself' give in, you might need to take a few minutes to think just what made you choose to eat offplan and try to work out strategies of getting through the temptations onplan.
Was it a particular food you were missing? If so try to prepare something to eat instead the next time that gives you the same satisfaction - crunchy, creamy, salty, even chocolatey can be totally 'legal'!!
Were you in a situation that caused you to falter in your determination? Maybe avoid that situation till you are more firmly entrenched on your new way of eating.
Were you with friends who persuaded or embarrassed you into giving in? Maybe keep away from them for a while till you are stronger in your way of eating, or ask them to help you not eat what you are not 'allowed'?
Dr Atkins tells us to recruit our family and friends as a support team. One member posted about grandchildren who pipe up with 'Grandma doesnt eat sugary foods!' and save the day when willpower is weak!!
However you need to reinforce your decision to eat Atkins, do feel free to post here if you feel yourself about to 'cave' and let our members support you

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
I am curious about why no fasting for one day? Jewish people and Roman Catholic people fast traditionally for religious reasons, it doesn't seem to hurt them.
Anyway, I like to start my diets (I go on a diet once every ten years or so) with a day of fast, I actually start after an obligatory fast day usually, to kill two birds with one stone... just makes it easier to stick with the diet for me. Perhaps it doesn't work for everybody. I mean, Dr. Atkins studied thousands of dieters.

Re: Day 1 Induction 208 Lbs
Of course you can choose not to eat anything for a day if you want and it makes you feel it is easier to stick to a diet- it just isnt a part of the Atkins way of eating!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
