  • An Oldie "Newbie"

Hi all! I've been lurking for about a week now. These boards are great! I've learned so much from all of you. I did the Atkins Diet in the 1970's for the first time when I was a teen. In the last 10 years, I have followed WW and have done well. I'm a Lifetime Member and had met my goal and kept the weight off for about 5 years. Then I had foot surgery in January. I was unable to exercise for about 6 weeks and, of course, I did not stop eating. I gained about 12 pounds. I've tried to WW again since then but I can't stick to it. I'm burned out and starving when I'm on it. So I decided I needed a change. I investigated Atkins and knew I could eat and not be hungry. It's changed since the 70's. You can actually have vegies!! So I decided to go for it. This is day 4 (I started Monday) and I'm doing great! I had a headache and low energy yesterday but I'm better today. I don't feel deprived at all. I've got to lose about 10 pounds in the next three weeks. We have our State tennis tourney. Surely I can do that. I weighed yesterday and had already lost 4.4 pounds. (I know I'm not supposed to weigh for a while ) Pray for my success. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to ADBB - I am glad you 'decloaked' and posted!!

Actually even in the 70's you could have had couple of 'small salads' in the first week on induction and then added 5 carbs more veggies the second week, so it isnt too different!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks for the welcome. That's true, you could have a few salads then. I am embracing eating, believe me! I've had steak and fish and shrimp and chicken and broccoli and salad and and cheese, and etc., etc., etc. Even my family loves it. They usually say, "oh no, Mom's dieting. We'll starve!" You know how dramatic teens are! (and DH). But they are enjoying this. I just cook them a little something extra to go with it.
