  • 14th day of Induction

    Down 7 lb, clean Induction.

Little fatiqued but bareable, no Induction flu at all but I did take all the supplements.

I have a high metabolic resistance to losing weight, the last two days there was only mild ketosis even at carb level 10 per day and walking on the treadmill for an hour each day.

I am down a dress size and that makes me happy.

I also finally got a copy of DNDR 2002.

So now onto the first rung, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Congratulations on your clean induction and on your seven lbs down. Sounds like you are doing splendidly. Don't be afraid of OWL... lots of people lose more, particularly on rung 1, and you can stay there for quite a while, if you like.

My suggestion is that now you have the book, read it as soon as possible. It'll help a great deal to understand how and why the diet works.

Thanks for the grats. I am reading the book by Dr. Atkins, I guess I agree with most of his findings but the explanations of how some things work seem to be personal intepretations sometimes. Nevertheless, it makes interesting reading.

I was thinking that aside from this forum no one supports my diet. My husband likes his English meals and would really prefer I eat the same. He hates it if I change any form of eating even if I put Stevia in my coffee instead of sugar.

I no longer tell him I am dieting. I said I am testing some foods with this group and exchanging my findings with the other members... he respects the scientific experiment approach for some reason. He doesn't ask too many questions because he is not interested but at least he is not actively working against my diet.

        Hi Kawispice,

        Well done on completing induction.

When I started Atkins no one was hugely supportive except my BF who had reservations about the health side-effects. However, now I've had some success people who were very anti-Atkins ask me about it and if you explain it, they sometimes partially change their minds, or even join in.

Do what you feel is right for you . Also enjoy OWL. As for recommendations I'd say don't get too hung up about the method of OWL - just do as the book says and listen to your body.

Without knowing how much in total you have to lose we cant tell what level of metabolic resistance to weightloss you have.
Check the chart in DANDR for this to make sure.

The first rung of OWL is more of your induction vegetables - so have a ball experimenting with any of the 54 varieties you havent been eating already

I stayed on the veg rung for several 5 net carb additions so I can have 10 or more servings of veggies a day if I want!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Great job well done.. Do or say what ever you need to be happy and get healthy. When Im questioned I say read the book its to hard for me to explain it. Im tired of people saying "that diet is bad for you" So I dont even go into it anymore..

              Well done, well done!!!!

My suggestion - stay off the scale. seriously. throw it out the window. Don't weigh, eat healthy and be free of compulsive diet obsessions.
