Re: 14 day and I couldn't be happier!!!

It wasn't very imaginative.....I'm saving that for later!

Basically I had scrambled eggs with either bacon or steak with sliced tomatoes for breakfast. For lunch I would have a salad with either grilled chicken, salmon or tuna with an olive oil dressing. For supper I alternate between beef, pork or chicken and have another small salad or fresh green beans.
If I needed a snack I would wrap a slice of turkey around some swiss cheese.
I let my hunger decide the portion size (which really dropped off after the first week)

I'm on my third week now and its about the same but I've added more vegetables.
I can tell the weight loss has slowed down this week as I knew it would. I don't think I'll weigh again untill the one month mark.

    Hope that helps!
    Best of luck to you!!

      Hey Greg! Cheers to you!
You are getting healthier by the minute. I so know what you mean about the exercise. I've gained my weight in the last 2 yrs and my mind wants to go but my body still is a little slow to follow. That's when I knew that I really wanted to be healthy. I walk now and wear a heartrate monitor to make sure that I'm in my Zone and not too high. I feel soo good. I also bought some Nordic Leki Walking sticks that really help me get a total workout. And, I love it. So does my dog Buddy.

Anyway, good for you to set your next healthy goal.

      Keep up the great work!

Thanks Buffy!....and thanks for reminding me I haven't started exercising yet

Monday...I'm starting with walking on Monday. I'm going to start some weight training also.....I was spotting for my 15 yr. old son the other day and discovered he can bench press more than I can.....that made me feel so OLD!!!

Good luck to you too on your goals!

That is truly amazing I hope to have as good of results as you. Way to go!! Do you work out as well? I don't really work out (yet) but I do try to get and walk at least 7-10 miles per week. I'm only on day five and counting.

Re: 14 day and I couldn't be happier!!!

Ok Greg, I started my exercises on Tuesday this week, a little cardio and then a few light upper body resistance machines in work. I kept the weights down so as to manage plenty of reps, (as we are told to do). One of the other guys there told me I was lifting too little, but as I said to him : 1. I have no upper body strength at the moment. 2. I am trying to tone up, not build muscle mass, and 3, I can't do too many reps if the weight is too much.

My only piece of advice would be, "Don't overdo it!". I didn't think I had, and even on Wednesday when I was a little stiff around the chest and shoulders I thought, "Well if that's all the pain I am getting from it I'll be back tomorrow". When I woke on Thursday, I could barely raise my arms above my head, and Friday was even worse. However, by Saturday, all the pain had gone. Not back in work until Tuesday again, when I will give it another shot. Hopefully won't be as bad this time.

I don't mean to put you off, but just start slowly and don't try to jump ahead to what you used to be able to do. I will be trying for three days this week, Tue, Thu, Sat. I am determined to try and make this a habit until I get there most working days and begin to enjoy it again. (I did quite enjoy it in the past). On a positive note, after my light workout and a 15 minute sauna, I felt fantastic as well as having the satisfaction of knowing that I was on my way. It is just taking a little longer to get up a head of steam.

            Dave

PS I had no problems from the cardio workout, just the weights, so keep up the walking, it'll do you no harm.

Thanks for the advice Dave.....thats great that you've gotten started!

I'll be sure to start slow with the weights....not sure how much these old joints of mine can handle!!
