  • big fat cheater!

I'm a big fat cheater. I got through the first week with NO PROBLEMS. Everything was delicious. I worked out 6 days, I only had a mild headache for a few hours the third day. I lost 1lb every night....

Then I decided that I was going to a Cinco De Mayo party and having a margarita. I let everyone convince me this was an unrealistic WOE and that I'd have to 'cheat' from time to time if I wanted to enjoy social get to gethers.
Well, the margarita led to a frappucino and about 5 cookies.

So, I'm on day three starting over. I've been exercising. I'm eating right, I haven't damaged my weight loss, but I'm disappointed that it was so easy for me to be swayed by the stupid drink!!!
AND its so strange that now I'm having this constant battle with myself that I'm not going to find happiness in eating the frozen cookie dough in my freezer.
Because at the same time I'm so thrilled with my overall 13lb weight loss. I feel like the high from that has lost its strength to keep me honest on my diet. Or MAYBE I haven't eaten enough today and I'm low blood sugar!

    Talk me down guys!!!! LOL

    Hi Nic Turtle,
You know we are all here for you and you need to see your slip-up as a lesson learnt and not let it effect you anymore. You're probably thinking about the cookie dough in the freezer because the drinks and cookies set off an insulin response and now your body is playing with your head lol sugar does that, don't let it ruin that fantastic 13lb weight loss which btw is awesome
Don't give in, make sure your next bite is Atkins all the way.
oh and I can relate to friends trying to convince you that this WOE is no good for you - don't listen to them at all. Tell them to read the book and then come and talk to you. Keep up all your good work and put the slip behind you, I know you can do it

The one thing i always try to remember is If i cheat, just one small thing, its going to take my body 3-5 days to get back into ketosis - fat burning mode.

      Thats enough to stop me!

          Hi Nturtle,

Don't beat youself up about this - learn from your mistakes and use this to make you better equipped not to cheat the next time. What triggered you off? What can you have that is legal at your stage to drink next time you are out? What snack can you have waiting that is legal and satisfying. As for dealing with naysayers - either try and explain what you're doing and why and how it had helped you so far or just tell them it's your own business (degree of politeness up to you!)

I have cheated about a billion times and each time have learned something. Come and join us in the cheat -free thread if you need a little bit of accountability!

Oh, I so feel for ya....the cookie dough being in the freezer. Hey, you might want to give that a new home, like in the trash can outside.

            Hang tough, and keep going!

              Re: big fat cheater!

Well, I had to talk myself out of going to the freezer four times last night. But I did it. I'm eating my chicken for breakfast, I'm down 2 more lbs and I'm so so glad I got over that temptation yesterday!

My next big challenge is coming this weekend when I'm having my little girls birthday and will NOT be eating cake and ice cream!!! What do you guys think of the low carb ice cream? I was thinking maybe if I ate one of those at the party I wouldn't have the emotional deprived feeling.

Dr Atkins wasn't kidding when he said this diet builds character in a hurry for carb addicts.

Thanks SO much for all the support!

Yea for not eating the stuff. Now, go file it in the garbage You'll be happy you did.

Fight the fight...don't buy the LC ice cream. You're sweettooth/head hunger will win if you do. Eat a really nice protein/fat rich breakfast and lunch with veggies to snack on during the party. In the end, you'll be smiling big time knowing that you conqured the battle of not giving in to something you're chosing to not eat to lose weight. Have a great time!

                  Re: big fat cheater!

I really LOVE the CarbSmart fudge ice cream bars. However, I waited for the dairy rung to have them and I only have one a week as a rule. They don't stall me but they are good enough that they could be a problem so watch out!

my experience is that if i eat WAY off the plan (i did it in the past but not this go round)....like cake or ice cream...my "system" REVOLTS...all that sugar makes for an ugly situation. THAT alone is enough to keep me straight!

I agree with misplaced southerner - I have cheated ONCE since starting again and omg I would not do it again. I had three slices of pepperoni pizza and I was paying for it the rest of the night. I cannot IMAGINE what REAL SUGAR would do to me - yikes!

Good for you for not indulging.

How to make it through the weekend???

Well, this may sound rough, but I'm known for telling it like it is....

When it's all said and done, after the weekend is over and you have to face YOURSELF and YOURSELF only in the mirror....you can have low carb ice cream (and maybe the full blown binge that leads to) and no weight loss, maybe even weight gain, and the cravings and misery that go hand in hand with that type of stuff (until you've gotten a good control over that stuff) and a bunch of pitiful EXCUSES about it all.

                            OR...

You can have a sense of self respect, and a greater control over the addiction, and RESULTS on the scale and in your measurements getting you closer to your goal.

It's up to you. You can have EXCUSES or you can have RESULTS. You can't have both.

Enjoying the tough love! I'm down 2lbs this morning again. Why would I want to stall that with a little piece of cake or ice cream? If I can stay on course through this weekend I could be at my next mini goal by Monday. If I cheat...I will waste a week getting back to where I am now.

"Not worth it" is going to be my mantra this weekend. I want to be in the next dress size down and I'm SO close! I did have to lay down to zip em up...but they fit last night! I should wear those pants tomorrow and remind myself that I eventually want them to be too big!

                              Thanks again everyone!
