  • Mea Culpa

I goofed big time on Mother's day and ate whole piece of a sliced pear with goat cheese crostini thing, and a salad with some nuts in it. I am mad mad mad that I allowed this to happen at all especially since I was 4 days shy of completing this induction. Should I do a whole new 2 week induction or add more days to this induction.

This would have been day 13 of induction instead it is day 3 again and I have lost -3 lbs and gained back +1 =net loss of 2 pounds. -0.5 inch in hips and thighs, no where else – If only that lost inch was in my mid section! At the moment I walk 20 minutes every other day. My ankle is in physical therapy.

A clean induction is important, but it's not the end of the world. Drink lots of water to flush out your system. The damage is not irreparable. Personally, I messed up during induction and didn't even realize it until after my induction was done, so I just did an extended induction for another couple weeks.

Otherwise, sounds like you're off to a good start! Don't fret over the mistake. We have all cheated and messed up, just drink, drink, drink and jump back on board!

The inches will come off, I promise!

Do not beat yourself up.. You could have done worse and had a chocolate cake instead of a pear or nuts.. Just continue on your program

Ditto...move on and learn from the experience.

I would also guess that your 1+ gain might be water flucutation and not actual fat, so there's some postive hope that you're okay and on your way to take care of you. I sure hope you're ankel heals well

There is no point in starting to re-count your first 14 days of induciton if you make a mistake and eat off-plan, as you can not lose your intitial 'water weight' again.
Just continue to count from day 13 and after day 14 measure and see what your first 14 day loss is. This is so you can look at the chart in DANDr and work out what sort of resistance to weightloss you have.
This is important as it will give you some idea of what your CCLL is likely to be (look at the other chart in DANDR to find this).

Look at it this way - if you had been following a map driving to a new destination and made a mistake and went off route you would not have gone back to the beginning to start again, would you? No, you would work out where you had gone wrong and got back on-route to continue on your journey.

Our Atkins journey is similar, in that a mistake doesnt mean returning to the beginning and restarting, it means carry on eating according to plan the very next mouthful and continue on your way of eating.

If you decide to stay on induction eating for a while longer then by all means continue to eat at induction levels until you are ready to move to the main weightloss phase of Atkins, Ongoing Weightloss (OWL).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
