  • Day three

On day three of induction. I only have about 15 pounds to lose. I have seen people lose that much on induction, but I was wondering if that usually only happens to people who have a lot more to lose. Also, Question about induction - can I really not eat ONE low carb tortilla? Even if I stay under my 20 carbs? And - My BF is taking me out to a fancy dinner tonight. I looked at the menu online. Is butternut squash puree with fish okay? I cannot remember if squash has too many carbs or not.

Potentially you could lose that amount of weight but I haven't seen anyone who has this little to lose with a 15 lb loss-it wouldn't be healthy to lose it that fast. I have 20-30 lbs to lose and I normally only lose about 4 during induction.

You're only supposed to lose 5-10 of your total loss during induction.

You probably won't lose all your weight on induction. If you lost all the weight you needed to on induction, then you wouldn't have the chance to learn how to incorporate the WOE into your life permanently.

Butternut squash is a no-no and so is the low carb tortilla. It is tempting to eat anything within reason as long as you stay under 20 carbs, but that is not the way Dr. Atkins designed the program. One of the purposes of induction is to rid your body of its carb addiction and to give you an idea of what your CCLL is. If you start adding in post induction foods, you will not have a clean induction. Although that is no indicator of success or failure, you are robbing yourself of utilizing the benefits of this wonderful WOE.

You will eventually add in those foods, but induction is toughest part. You can do it! Just stick with it!

Thanks for all the tips! I feel like I am starting induction for real today then. I thought that if I just stayed under 20 I would be okay. I had no idea. I did this diet once before and lost ten pounds in about a month, but I did with the low carb tortillas and squash, so I am assumung that I'll probably lose a little faster this time.

I did this like three years ago and I remember thinking that it would be hard to quit drinking because I would give up basically my whole social life. Hard as it was, I spent the entire summer after college sober. The strangest part was that I still went to bars and drank club soda. I could not believe how idiotic everyone drunk in the bar looked. I never noticed when I was also drunk.

Now my BF always has beer and wine at his house, so I got back into drinking again, which sucks because I know that's why I gained the weight back. Just two drinks a night will really add up if you do it over the course of a year.

Good news is that I'll be spending the whole summer in Europe - away from here and the lame lifestyle I have made for myself.

It sounds like you are making choices that will benefit you. That is a huge step. Whenever I started programs to lose weight before, it was always because someone else was telling me to - doctors, family, friends... This time, I decided it on my own because I wanted to. That's always the best reason. Keep that in mind as you go through the program. It will help you succeed!!
