  • new with food allergies, need help

I was wondering how I might possibly be able to eat this WOE with my food allergies? I am allergic to dairy and eggs as well as other things not allowed with Atkins. I know there are other ways to get fat in, but one can only eat so much high fat proteins and other things. I am so limited, the protein level goes up quickly, not much left to eat, especially for the induction and lower levels of carbs!
Any suggestions are welcome! I do try to use a more natural approach, not tons of procesed stuff, pork rinds are definately out. Thanks for the help, I really want to do this!

What you need to do is to sit down with a copy of the Induction Acceptable Foods List. From that list make a list of the foods you can eat. Then formulate your menues from that.

The only dairy allowed during Induction is butter, cheese and cream. You can easily get your fat sources from vegetable fats like olive oil. Cream is limited to 2-3 tablespoons daily during Induction, so it can be left off your menu.

Thanks, I guess that's the best thing to do. I was just hoping there might be something I wasn't thinking of, or if someone else had the same difficulties. Off to check out the info.

I am also breastfeeding, but not staying strictly with induction. I do want to keep with the right foods to get rid of cravings, but not staying with 20 carbs, more like 50-60. I am paying super close attention to her and she is fine, so I assume this is an okay amt. It's pretty healthy with all the veg. and I am allergic to almost all grains so she wouldn't be getting any anyway.
      Will keep you updated, thanks!

Dr. Atkins didn't recommend the weight loss phases of his diet for nursing mothers. Do Maintenance Atkins while you are nursing and then move to the weight loss phases once you have stopped.

Is there a specific number of carbs/proteins/fats for maintainance? Right now I am doing about 60% fat, 10% carbs and 30% protein. I was really hoping to get rid of cravings now, I have candida issues, and low thyroid as well. I don't have alot of weight to lose, but it's the cravings that kill me! When I eat things with alot of carbs, even if the healthy ones (sweet potatos, rice, chickpeas ect.) I get huge cravings and just can't stop eating. I end up eating so much.

Post the questions on the Maintenance Forum: they'll be able to help you there.
