Re: Confused about mayo
If it's just plain mayo, would assume it has carbs because it's made with oil and egg--eggs have carbs. Some mayo has added sugar as well. I know of one brand, Duke's, that has no added sugars. You can also make your own mayo. I've never done it, but I've heard it's pretty easy and tastes great!
Anyway, if the carbs come from eggs, that's ok. You are allowed to eat liberally of eggs on induction, just as long as you count the carbs. Atkins is a LOW-carb diet, not NO-carb. You're allowed up to 20 carbs a day, the majority of which come from your 3 cups of veggies, the remainder of which come from your 3 oz. of cheese, special foods, shellfish, sausage, etc. You do not have to eat all 20 each day; that is just the upper limit of carbs you may have on induction.
Just make sure you're not eating "SALAD DRESSING" like Miracle Whip--this has extra sugar. Stick with real mayo.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Confused about mayo
It probably had 'up to .5 carbs' per serving, so they are legally allowed to call that zero!!
Outside the USA the labels list the info 'per 100 grams' which means they have to give a more accurate number, making it easy to work out how many carbs we are eating.
The problem with one tablespoon being rounded down to zero carbs if it has say 0.4 carbs means if you have say 6 tablespoons during one day you will be eating 2.4 grams instead of the zero you think!!!
I have looked online for the UK nutrition info but can only find USA-type labels shown.
Maybe one of our UK members can post the nutrition info from their label so you can work out what fraction of a gram to use for one tablespoon to get it accurate.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
