  • On Day 11 -- Did I goof too bad?

I've been very pleased with my progress and the fact that I have followed the Induction rules exactly (except a little sugar free syrup - aspartame a few times), but I'm afraid I goofed badly last night.

After church, we went to Zaxby's. I ordered a grilled chicken club (no sauce, no bread) & fried mushrooms. My intentions were to peel the breading off, but for some reason my order came out as SLICED fried mushrooms instead of the usual whole ones. It was impossible to take the bread off...and I ate them. They were lightly lightly breaded...

Just need some reassurance I haven't set myself back a few days.
Back in Induction again...fell off the wagon...Atkins was great though...I dropped down to 187...the lowest I've been in several years!

Drink loads of water and you should be fine. Just don't do the same again! If you don't use fitday.com, start and keep track of everything you eat and drink. You can make sure you stick to induction rules there! All of us have made a mistake every now and then. Just make sure its only the one!

up your water and keep on goin, if you knocked yourself out of ketosis it could take you a couple of days to catch up, but its not the end of the world!

Just drink more water to flush those bad boys away

Remember the most important thing is to be on track right away.. Remember we didn't get overweight because we ate one bad thing..it was because we allowed ourselves to have NUMEROUS bad things and didn't get right back on track.. Drink lots of water and you should be okay.

This shouldn't be a big deal, as everyone has said, drink lots of water and get back on the wagon. Even if it did set you back a few days, you know what you need to do, and what a few days compared to the rest of your life? And you've learned a valueable lesson. When you eat out, ask lots of questions.

I don't think one cheat a week is something to be excommunicated from Atkins for doing. I look forward to having beers and cheesesteak sandwiches while watching UFC this Saturday night. I just earn it from Sun-Friday.

Re: On Day 11 -- Did I goof too bad?

Get back on board with your very next Atkins meal. There is no need to "start over" today is Day 12 for you.

Use this as a learning experience to help you get through your Atkins. Many of us have experienced things like this from restaurant omelettes made with the secret ingredient (pancake batter) to seemingly legal foods like coleslaw (with sugar in the dressing).

What you don't want to do is keep falling off during your Atkins. For example, you don't want to cheat on weekends because you've been "good" during the week. Dr. Atkins specifically wrote that yo-yoing like that not only sets you back in terms of your weight loss (because it takes at least 2-3 days to get back into ketosis) but doing that frequently can mess up your metabolism in the long run making weight loss harder for you. Not to mention it sends your blood sugar into a wacky pattern of highs and lows which might set you up for medical problems like hyperinsulinism/diabetes.

Now, I think I may have overdone the water last night...today I'm up a few pounds...felt bloated all day. Does this seem the likely reason?

Could be anything - better not to weigh each day if you find the normal fluctuations make you worry if you are doing something wrong
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
