  • Just a few questions about this phase

I have just a few questions about the induction phase of Atkins.

1st off and this may sound weird, but I go to church and we do communion every weekend. It consists of less then a fingernails length of no yeast bread and an ounce of grape juice....can I still take part? I mean, I surely don't want to have to give up this private time that I keep reserved for God, so will I fall into that "kiss of death" that is mentioned in the book if I take part in communion?

2nd, I am under the care of a GI doctor who says it is fine for me to do the Atkins diet with the exception tha I am to have NO leafy green veggies what so ever. The other veggies don't bother me and neither does the cheese or meat, but the leafy stuff messes with my IBS, which he said may actually straighten out on this diet. Since I can't eat the required 2 to 3 cups of salad veggies (mainly the leafy stuff) a day, can I have more of the other acceptable veggies? I don't want to be eating only meats and cheese.

Thanks to anyone who can help me on these issues. I just don't want to do anything that may jeopardize my inital 2 weeks in this diet.

I would say, carry on participating in communion to keep you spiritually healthy as well as physically so
Be aware of the possibility of awakened cravings and have some 'legal' snacks ready in case you find yourself with the 'munchies' so you can keep on track.

There are many non-leafy 'salad vegetables' on the 2-cup list to choose from - peppers, celery, radishes, daikon, jicama, mushrooms etc so you will be easily able to stick to the allowed foods list I am sure.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I always do my communion..its only once a month and a tiny amount of wafer and juice... I think God will keep it from affecting me

I think once you get through induction you will be able to eat the green leafy vegetables.. Atkins does wonders for IBS...
