I was wondering if the Sugar Free Jello is okay while on induction. I have found some at Walmart and it's made with Splenda, as well as Land-O-Lakes sugar free spray whipped cream, also made with Splenda.

Neither has any carbs in them, so will they be safe to eat during induction? If I don't get something sweet to eat soon, I may die or kill someone.

    Re: sweets

As long as they dont have any other 'illegal' sweeteners (sometimes manufacturers flag up the 'Splenda' logo when they also include other non-legal ones)

Many of us managed to kill our sweet tooth by starving it out during induction, so consider that if you do have a very insistent sweet tooth!

Otherwise we are allowed 3 servings of sweetener, so make sure you keep to that daily limit.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Re: sweets

According to DANDR the sweeteners that are allowed are: Splenda (sucralose), saccharin, cyclamate, acesulfame-K.

Natural sweeteners ending in -ose such as maltose, fructose, etc. should be avoided.

Certain sugar alcohols such as maltitol do not affect blood sugar and are acceptable. Use with caution because it could cause stalls or cravings.

Here is a recipe for SNICKERDOODLES
              2g of carbs per cookie-

I ate one per day on my 1st week and still lost 7lbs!

              Makes 20 cookies
              Almond Snickerdoodles

              ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
              1 large egg
              ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
              ½ cup ground almonds
1 cup almond meal or 1 cup more ground almonds
              ½ cup Splenda
              ¼ teaspoon baking soda

              Optional:
1 tablespoon Splenda plus 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Nutrition at a Glance, per serving (one cookie)
              Calories 80
              Total fat 7g
              Saturated fat 2g
              Sodium 0g
              Total carb 2g
              Dietary fiber <1g
              Protein 2g

              Method:
In a medium bowl, beat butter until creamy. Add egg and vanilla extract and continue beating.
Add the ground almonds, almond meal, Splenda and baking soda. Beat until well combined. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour.
Preheat oven to 350°. Roll dough into one-inch balls. Arrange balls on ungreased baking sheet. Flatten balls with bottom of a water glass, or use a fork to flatten them and make a pattern.
Bake cookies for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned at the edges.
Carefully remove from the pan to a cooling rack and let cool completely.
Optional: Roll cookies in Splenda-cinnamon mixture before baking.

These hit the spot!!!! I am a sweets person... so I was excited to find these!!!

                Wow...great recipe!

I have a challenge for ya, even if you think you just might kill someone or you'll just die if you don't get something sweet...don't eat it. Challenge yourself to stay faaar far far away from anything that is "sweet", even if it's fake sweet, for the 2 weeks on Induction. It's an amazing rush to feel that you actually can surivive, and people around you will do the same, without the "sweetness" of foods and you'll be able to tell if it's actually head hunger, addiction to sweets, or even actually hungry for protein...go on, I dare ya

                Best wishes on your journey!

Kill the sweet tooth!! I know its reeeaallllly hard, especially for us ladies around TOM but if you can kill it the better off you'll be. Sweet things, even induction legal sweet things always make me fall off. Try eating something really yummy and fatty, like cheese or a deviled egg or two. That usually helps me. Good luck to ya!!

Careful with the snickerdoodles, honey! You're not supposed to eat almond flour/crushed almonds until you are past induction and on rung #3-nuts and seeds!

Glad you still lost weight, though!

Hi there...I'd go for just not eating the sweets. I was such a sweet fiend before I started Atkins, and now I really could care less. Once and a while I want chocolate, but even then, being in control of my eating is what I want more than chocolate. I never thought I'd say that!

Dont forget to check the ingredients list of both of these before deciding whether to include them in your menus.

Dr Atkins suggested making your own using unsweetened gelatine and a 'legal' sweetener - same with whipped cream - better to use plain cream and whip and sweeten it yourself. I think Rediwhip has some 'illegal' ingredients from what I have read on here.

I use the Land-O-Lakes spray whipped cream - it has sucralose in it. Actually, I only ate one serving of the sugar-free jello with the spray whipped cream last week and the whipped cream left a heavy coating in my mouth, so I didn't eat anymore.

I think I am over the sweet tooth phase now as I could care less just after 7 days and no....no one is dead in my house yet.
