  • a few questions day 1 Future of quitting smoking and keeping weight off ETC.. thanks

I do not have the book yet, but please feel free to post where i should be reading in the book as I should have it in just a couple days, I bought it off ebay.

These questions are being asked for me and my husband (stats below)

My first question is the reduced card bread. The 5 net carbs?
Is this ok during induction. I know you are allowed 20, but is this ok.?
Also I was told by my sister that did have really great success in her first two weeks on the diet - that she could eat as much green veggies as she wanted. I noticed they do have carbs, should i count that as part of my 20?

Also - on items where i was able to cut carbs OR go to zero carbs and also cut fat. is that ok.. Like miracle whip, etc?

I am wanting to quit smoking, but I always gain weight quickly after i quit. So my next question goes along those lines. I want to lose 20 lbs approximately. When I drop that, i am going to quit smoking, can i redo the induction part anytime I want? I expect to gain some after quitting, but not gain 30 lbs in a mth like has happened in the past. I dont have a real major problem quitting till i no longer can fit in my pants, then its just depressing. We are HOPING to remain reduced carb forever and I have tried so many things in the past that I just pray this helps me lose and keep it off while i try to quit or atleast HELP OUT on the weight gain. Anyone have any experience with this??? Thank you

    Thanks a Million!!

Bob - 280lbs - wants to lose 50 as first major goal

    Dawn - 145 - wants to lose 15-20 lbs

My first question is the reduced card bread. The 5 net carbs? No not during induction

she could eat as much green veggies as she wanted. I noticed they do have carbs, should i count that as part of my 20? its not as much as you want, its 2 cups of salad veggies and one cup of other veggies, you can find the lists of acceptable veggies in the FAQ forum

Also - on items where i was able to cut carbs OR go to zero carbs and also cut fat. is that ok.. Like miracle whip, etc? - not sure about miracle whip, but this diet is not cutting fat, 65% of your induction foods will be fat. the major thing you need to look at is sugar in ingredients, also anything that ends with "ose" dextrose etc

Onto the smoking... i understand it makes you eat more, thats okay on this way of eating as long as the foods are legal.

Use fitday to track your foods but more so, until your book comes, read all the stickies at the top of the forum, that should help answer your questions.

WOW did i just get a swift kick in the rear.. I was mislead LOL
Well its my fault because I didnt do my homework.
I wish i would have had this list (sticky note) before i went grocery shopping.
Oh well its only 3 more days till I get groceries again and can find this list very helpful.
Atleast the foods i got were without sugar, so thats cool. I just thought I needed to cut fats too, so i bought a lot of fat free items.
Either way we should be ok and should make it though.
Ill be glad when my book gets here
Till then ill be on here reading everything i can..

        Very Good!

Yeah alot of people do a Fake Atkins also known as Fatkins round these parts!

Fat free items arent terrible, its just they usually replace the fat with sugar.

Miracle whip is definitely a No-No! It's got lots of sugar in it. Use full fat Mayonnaise. Duke's is the best brand--no sugar at all. I've used Kraft and Hellman's without problems, but they do have sugar listed as an ingredient. OR, make your own mayonnaise.

3 cups of veggies per day for the first two weeks. Then you add more veggies. I don't think anyone got fat eating veggies, however the point of the induction is to detox your body from carbohydrates and get your body converted to burning fat for energy instead of carbohydrates.

If you are going to invest the effort and sacrifices you might as well do it the right way, correct???

There is a forum on here for frequently asked questions. Look for the thread called Rules of Induction and the one called What foods can be eaten on induction. Those are the two best ones until your book gets here.
