  • Grr My husband

    Okay, He and I are eating the same things. We have lunch and dinner together everyday, and he eats eggs for breakfast before work, and I eat scrambled eggs at work (they have a cafe).

    I have trace to small ketones, and I'll be danged, that man has LARGE ketones!

    This is our 3rd day.

    Any ideas as to why?

    They say that there are different Ketones and just because his is larger doesn't mean yours aren't working

      What's in the eggs at work? Are they real? Powdered? Mixed with something they should not be (for example IHOP mixes their egg mixture with a couple of tablespoons of pancake batter to make they thicker/fluffier).

      Do you and your husband snack between meals? Too much of some of the Atkins friendly foods such as cheese, heavy cream, avacado...? Sometimes I forget that those are limited to a certain amount and over indulge.....my stix have changed color as a result.

      Nonetheless though, I've continued to lose weight as long as I was still in ketosis. Light or dark purple, you are still losing......good luck...

        It has been said here many times...Being in ketosis is like being pregnant, you either are or you aren't. Don't sweat it you are burning fat. Besides you may just be drinking more water than he is and that will make your sticks show up lighter.

          Hiya.....

          As I understand it....any show of keytones are just an excess, that has not been used up.
          People can still be in ketosis but never turn the sticks purple...simply because their body uses up all the keytones.
          You're burning yours up for energy...more so than your hubby and that's why he's peeing out the extra.
          Don't worry about 'hitting purple'...as long as you are losing inches/lbs...you KNOW your in ketosis!

            Strong ketones is a sign of dehydration, you've got the best signs, traces are the aim!
