  • first day of induction.

hey everyone!! i'm 17 but i'm on atkins because i was diagnosed with pcos a while back and i could NEVER find a diet to work for me. Now im trying atkins and i was wondering how much i should lose within the first month.. and also,
when i diet i get constipated real easy (lol tmi i know) but i was just wondering if any of you have and what you did to get rid of it?

i'm really trying to stick to it. i didn't realize that whenever i ate low carbs,
i lost weight drastically quickly. but, it didnt click that maybe it was because of my pcos that i was losing weight with eating a little amount of carbs.
also, what do you guys normally eat in a day?
i'm actually really good with just eating a tuna can and a cucumber all day
but i don't know if im supposed to eat more then that.

thanks for listening/reading. =) good luck to all of you on your journey.

Not possible to guess how much you will lose, how much do you need to lose? you should lose 5-10% of that in the first two weeks...

You can have flax or psyillium husks to help with constipation...

You need to eat 3 cups of veggies a day, and you should eat every 4-5 hours, use fitday.co.uk to track your foods and ensure you're doing everything correctly,

You need to read the book!! have you done that??

where can i get the book? walmart?

and i wanna lose like maybe 80. i weigh 217 this morning. so.. yeah. and i'm 5'4. but, a lot of my weight is contributed by pcos & psychiatric medications i USED to be on.

but um i don't think i could get the book until the weekend. i drive, but ive only got 5 bucks on me lol.

      btw, you look terrific.

Hi loveisntenough. Why don't you try your local library? They may have a copy for you to borrow? Its tough being a student! You might find a copy in a second hand book shop either.

good idea.. but, i don't know if my actual school library carries it. i think i could go to another local one soon. my mom wants to diet too (both of us having pcos) so we're going to try it together.

my friend tried atkins and said she got IBS.. i dont know how much of it is true, but thats what her doctor told her. i'm just a little worried on the high fat content but i'm sure the book will explain it! Thanks! =D

You'll find that at first you eat more foods with fat in it but as you go through OWL, your diet will consist of lovely fresh vegetables and fruit, and lean meats and fish. Its great really. I think its a great idea that you get your Mum involved, having support at home is such a help.
Have a look in the threads in the FAQ's section of the boards, they will give a good starting point on how to get going, before you read the book. But really, get the book somehow, it will really make everything seem so much more clearer.
