    Re: 21 questions

    1) Dr. Atkins NEW Diet Revolution is a MUST. You need to read the book, cover to cover, and re-read it about 93 million times. It explains the science of the diet, why it works, how it works, and explains each phase of the diet in-depth. As for the other two books...I'm sure others will have more ideas!

    2) You could very well lose 20 pounds in the first month, but it's impossible to schedule weight loss. Stick to the plan with no cheats, exercise regularly, and drink your water, and you will be successful. I find it more realistic to set minigoals about every 10 pounds or so, and focus on reaching that smaller goal, rather than being overwhelmed by my MAIN goal. I don't have a certain date in my mind about when I should reach each minigoal--I just celebrate when it happens!

    3) Induction can be followed safely for up to 6 months, but it's only recommended for people who are metabolically resistant. How do you know if you're metabolically resistant? If you don't lose ANY pounds or inches during your 14-day induction period, then you are resistant. I suggest moving to OWL as soon as possible just to increase your variety of foods. Staying on induction doesn't make you lose weight faster--in fact, many people find that by extending induction, their weight loss stalls until they move to OWL. I lost 25 pounds on induction/extended induction, but I've lost over 55 pounds on OWL! I wish I'd moved to OWL sooner!

    4) I wish I would have read the book right at the beginning. I did my own version of Atkins in 2003, without reading the book, and that's why I'm back for a second time. NOW I understand why I was doomed to failure. Now I know that I will be successful because I understand how the plan works.

    5) My goal is a size 6 or 8, or 160 pounds. I'd like to decrease my body fat percentages, and I want to keep improving on my running abilities. I want to be in control of my eating and not be a slave to food for the REST OF MY LIFE!

    6) Not saving for one yet--I'm going to see how well dry-brushing works for the skin first! And besides, I really don't have any money to save.

    7) I don't have a big reward planned, except for the fact that I will be the healthiest I've ever been in my entire life! I think the feeling of being at goal and maintaining that healthy weight while eating the foods I love and exercising to feel great will be reward enough.

        Re: 21 questions

        1) what are the 3 best books to buy for starting my new lifestyle? As Julierama said--Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 copyright. Read it cover to cover and then read it a few more times.

        2) is 20 pounds a month a realistic goal ? No. I'm not saying that you can't lose that much in a month, but if you put restrictions like that on yourself you are setting yourself up for failure and disappointment. Make weight goals with no time frame attached to them. We all lose at different rates.

        3) i have lot or weight to lose and it okay to be on induction for 8 months? I lost the majority of my weight doing the ongoing weight LOSS phase. Read that again...ONGOING WEIGHT LOSS phase. You continue to lose. There really is no reason to deprive yourself of healthy vegetables and fruits and other foods in the improbability that you'll lose any faster by staying on induction. AND you are setting yourself up to fail when you get bored with the food.

        4) if you could do every thing over again what would you change? I made goal today...ON MY SECOND time around. What did I change this time? I read the book. I did it the way the book says to do it instead of trying to make my own rules. AND I added a lot of exercise...it took me quite a while to get into that...but at first I did it because I HAD to. Now I do it because I want to.

what is your weight loss/fitness goal? 185 lbs reached this morning. i am going to go lower, but my new goal is more of a body fat percentage instead of any specific number on the scale. Who knows...that might mean my weight actually goes UP.

is anyone saving towards a tummytuck or anything like that ? Boob Job for me Don't really need the tummytuck. I'll be posting pics in a few minutes in the before and after forum. You can take a look for yourself. I do have to say, if there was a safe procedure that didn't leave god awful scars, I would love to have a good amount of skin whacked off out of my inner thighs. But, that surgery is nasty, painful and doesn't look pretty (scarwise)

what is going to be your treat when you reach your goal? I didn't really plan one. I went out to dinner with my husband and had prime rib fajitas, ceviche and guacamole and sour cream.

          Re: 21 questions

There is a way to get rid of the fat in the thighs, saddle bags etc. One non invasive way is ultra sound. Same technology as when they look at unborn children. The ultra sound aims at specific fat cells and destroys them. I had my first session, it does not hurt and there is zero down time, feels like a massage. I lost 3cm on each thigh with the first treatment I am now going for my second.... the fat loss is pernament.

Kawispice...my problem isn't the fat, it's SKIN. So, even if they irradicate fat with a laser, it still doesn't resolve the fact that my inner thighs have a huge amount of excess skin that hangs and has stretch marks boohoo!

                Re: 21 questions

                1. read the Atkins book. read and re-read and re-read...commit it to memory and then read it some more. i also love the new book "the secret"......the power of positive thinking. i do believe in that...you must BELIEVE that you can succeed. no room for negativity...BELIEVE AND YOU WILL SUCCEED.

                2. 20 pounds in a month is a lot. i guess it depends on how much you have to lose. if i had set that as my goal i would have been disappointed and quit. be realistic. this is not a quick fix it. you did not gain it in a month. you probably won't take it off in a month. but follow the plan and you WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT!

                3. that is a long time.....i think OWL gives you more options, less chance of getting bored which leads to cheating, and you will continue to lose.

4.what would i change??? i would have gotten it in my fat head to be more patient early on! i read a lot and listened to people who had been thru what i was going thru. i learned to just do the plan and let it work for me....it WILL happen!

                5. originally it was 155. i plan to go lower i think. it really depends on how i feel. my fitness is more important to me than a number on the scale. inches count too. right now i am wearing size 8 and sometimes size 6. hey, i'm happy with that.

6.no knives for me. i lost a lot in my boobs but i am happy with what i have. with all the exercise, my tummy is just fine (considering i have given birth twice!) nah....if i save for ANYTHING it is gonna be a TRIP somewhere incredible that i can ENJOY because i feel SO DARN GOOD!

7.no real treat at goal in mind. i started this initially to be able to wear something i really like at me wedding in 3 weeks. i achieved that already. i guess the best prize is that i feel like a million bucks!

                good luck!

                    Rouge,

I get it, it is the skin... there are several skin thightening procedues, used to reduce cellulite and to thighten the skin (not cheap though) if you are interested.
