  • My first day didn't go so well! Help.

    Hi guys,

Well, I'm just finishing up my first day, and I had to add a WASA cracker to get at least close to my carbs. What does everyone eat?

    Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs/2 slices bacon
Lunch 2 cups lettuce, 4 black olives, 2 tbsp blue cheese dressing (0 carbs) "Marie's Premium Blue Cheese" no sugar. Yeah!
Chicken pieces, 1-2 oz (I'm guessing)
    Snack-1 mozzerella stick
Dinner - Shrimp, plain (defrosted from frozen) Dipped in a little blue cheese
    Celery
snack - Wasa Cracker and slice of cheese

Only 14 carbs, only about 700 calories

I know it will get better, but I had a killer headache all day ...I did drink plenty of water and dragged myself to pilates/yoga tonite.
I feel shaky, but maybe it was my headache. What do you think?

Hi Julie, I responded to your last plea for help, but I don't think you read it. I'll Paste it here so you can look at it.

    Hi 1359Jules,

...First off, Congratulations on keeping your 35 lbs off. It sounds like you just need a refresher.

...If you go to the forums link, choose Atkins Phases, then the FAQ page, that will help with alot of your questions. These two FAQ's What are the Rules of Induction? and What foods can be eaten on Induction?, will be very helpful. But I'll help you here too.
...Under the rules, you must eat NO MORE THAN 20 grams of carbs. Remember that eggs, spices, cheese, cream, all have carbs, even your vitamins, and they slowly add up.
...Now flax and psyllium have carbs too (but not much after fiber) and if you consume them you will gain a couple of carbs, but relieve the constipation. (See What can I do if I am constipated? in FAQ's)Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water and excercising and this too will help with the constipation. I personally use either the SF Orange Metamucil every morning or make the ground flax seed, protien powder, SF sweetner and hot water cereal for breakfast. This keeps my system "moving". (see "What is flaxseed and why should I be using it? " in the FAQ's)
...I don't take the flax oil capsules as I get my Omega 3's in the Flax meal, and I want the fiber that you don't get in the capsules. I personally take a Mega Multiple Vitamin each day, but alot of people here take more than that. In the Forums, if you go to the heading of HEALTH, choose Vita Nutrient Solution/Supplements to see what others do for this category.

...And last but not least, re: the ticker factory ticker, I cheat. Instead of entering the "address", I highlight the finished ticker, right click, copy. Then in my signature page, (User CP, edit signature), I then right click, paste. This has worked well for me.

...Good luck in your journey, and ask as many questions as you need. ~~~

Hi, Julie. During Induction you cannot eat more than 20 net carbs daily. Many of us averaged between 10-15 net carbs daily during our Inductions.

Lettuce is one of the vegetables that have the least amount of carbohydrates...and nutrients and fiber. On the bright side, you'll see from the links Kntrylady posted that there are about 20 other vegetables on the "salad" list and about 30 vegetables on the "other" list which have more nutrients and fiber than lettuce. By eating more of these higher fiber and nutrient foods, you won't have to eat non-Induction foods that might potentially derail your weight loss.

        Hi Julie
Induction headaches are a killer I know! But it will pass. One of the best tips I had when I started was to join Fitday.com. If you haven't joined do so straight away. You need to aim for a ratio 65/5/30 each day, or as close to it as possible. Work out how many calories you should eat based on your height/weight etc and get as close to it as possible. I was way under in calories in the early days, now i make sure i hit 1600 or so every day. You'll find headaches will disappear then.

And drink loads of water! Keep up the good work. You'll get there.

Re: My first day didn't go so well! Help.

Looks like I am late to respond since you have already gotten great infor from the other ladies above me. I am a month in now and all of those tips from above surely helped me ... especially the faq's and the thread about "what you can eat on induction". Just take it one day at a time and soon you will see the pounds melting away.

..oh and any other questions ... someone is alway around here with a helpful word.
