  • how often do you folks weigh?

    i'm pissed...granted it wasn't her fault, but i went to weigh myself this morning, as i'm a little over a week into induction. my roommate went on 3 weeks vacation and took the bathroom scale!!! Not that I'm the obsessive type who would weigh themselves all the time, but I just want to keep track of my progress and make sure i'm headed in the right direction. I figure it would be reasonable to weigh yourself every week to 2 weeks, wouldn't you? what do you think, folks?

    Yay on the roommate taking the scales..cause when they come back you are going to have a great loss...lol I am addicted to my scales and weigh every day

      i sure hope so... i can't really tell what my situation is, which is unusual for me (i did atkins awhile back in high school with my parents). i'm thinking that if i don't see encouraging results in the next 2 weeks (i'm considering extended induction), i might get an appointment with an endocrinologist, as i have an underactive thyroid, and i think that may be a significant contributing factor. we'll see what happens.

        Hi

        I weigh once a week. It is much easier to get excited over a 1 pound loss for the week when you're not obsessing over a pound going up and down for days. I get on the scale on Sunday morning, and it is what it is.

        Lots of people like to weigh more often. It just depends. As for me... I just don't need that head game. And it's really cool on those weeks when I step on it and see that I have lost 3. It might be fun to see if you can get through the whole 3 weeks without weighing. That would actually give me incentive to work harder and see how much I could lose.

          WAY TOO MUCH. I have a digital scale attached to a chain, that I drag behind me at all times. Thats so I cant weight my self at least once every five minutes. Just kiddin. I weight once a day, but i am scale-a-holic.

            I weigh in once a week (and every day inbetween is just a gauge) and note it on Saturday.

            I must say though, taking the scale on vacation is not a highlight of mine. Although I probably enjoyed my vacation more without the scale. LOL.

                I would suggest weighing yourself after your 14th day on induction just to see what your initial loss is to be able to see what your metabolic resistance to weightloss is according to the chart in DANDR.

                Even though you will not have the same scales you started with on that day maybe you can find someone else's to get on for that one time, then once your original scales are back to use you can compare the two scale readings then and adjust your 14 day loss for any difference they show (all scales seem to weigh slightly different)

                  Get out of bed, go for a tinkle (pmsl), gently & slowly step on scales, lol!

                    Yeah i weigh once a week, a friday generally and like Cathy up there i go pee and step on the scales very slowly - naked too haha!

                    I do weigh a coupla times inbetween but only when ive tried a weird food to see how it affects me! - i dont recommend that though, its just the beginning of an obsession!

                      I weigh once a week, and when I go to the Doc's office once a month. That way I see a bigger difference.

                        Interesting thread. Being that I just started yesterday, I have been thinking a lot about this subject.

                        I have a tendency to be a scale hog...........funny how I'm only like this while I'm trying to lose weight. When I'm eating whatever I want and getting fatter, I avoid the scale.

                        Anyhoo....I think I have decided that I am going to weigh myself every two weeks. I thought about once a week, but then what about the TOM week. That always discourages me. And sometimes it's the week before TOM or the week after that I gain the weight. It makes no sense but it fools with my mental attitude.

                        I wish I had started on a Saturday. I guess I like my weigh ins to line up with the calendar or something. But Tuesday it is and I will stick with that.

                        So far, I haven't gotten tempted to weigh. I'm sure I'll get a little scared when the first weigh in day arrives. Ya want the first one to be a great one, ya know.

                        So after that lonnnnnnnnnnnnng explaination...........every two weeks.

                          The gravitational pull of the moon upon the earth can affect your weight just a little, depending on what time of day it is(The same way it pulls on the ocean to give us high and low tide); so I weigh myself the same time every morning(naked), once a day, to get the most accurate idea of where I am.
