  • Should I stay in Induction?

.. Or move to the next phase? I lost 8pounds, but got 3 back for some reason. Today is day 14 and I don't know what to do.
Am I more likely to keep losing weight if I stay in Induction.
Isn't a large tomato about 5carbs? Would it be enough to just eat one of those per day (besides the 3cups) if I do start the next level?

I am no expert as I am new here, but I think moving on is a personal choice made with what you have to lose in mind.

Look up your degree of metabolic resistance in the charts in the book. If your degree of resistance is low to mild, then there is really no reason to stay on Induction. Dr. Atkins wrote that the only people who could possibly benefit from staying on Induction longer than 2 weeks are those people who have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss because staying on Induction might correct underlying metabolic imbalances.

Does staying on Induction ensure you will keep losing weight? No. Some people stay on Induction unnecessarily and stop losing weight...only to have that weight loss return when they move to the On-Going Weight Loss Phase. And many people find that their weight loss on On-Going Weight Loss Phase is 'faster' than it was during Induction.

The first thing you add in the On-Going Weight Loss Phase is 5 net carbs of any of the 54 Induction vegetables.

How much weight do you have to lose? Dr. A. also says that people with a significant amount of weight to lose might want to also stay on Induction. I can't remember the amount off hand..........is it like over 50 lbs to lose?

I have 164 pounds to lose so I'm toying with the idea of staying on Induction.

Re: Should I stay in Induction?

Found it in the sticky "Day 15:should I stay or go" thread.......

"Typically, folks who are very metabolically resistant and/or need to lose alot of weight (over 75 pounds) seem to benefit from extending their Induction. Dr. A. even says in the book it's okay for these folks to do it because they need to correct the metabolic problems they have (which caused them to gain weight in the first place). From what I've observed on ADBB, the folks who have less than 50 pounds to lose generally seem to do better when they move onto OWL immediately after their 14 day Induction or if they stay on Induction for no more than 4 months. Thanks, I think I'll try adding vegetables then!
