  • Hmm...Could this still be induction flu?

Hello all...I haven't been feeling all that great lately and I was thinking maybe it might be induction flu, phase II? The first day of induction the induction flu hit at the end of the day. I felt horrible with pounding head and all. But the next day I woke up adn I felt GREAT. This is day 13 and for the last week, I have had induction type headaches every day beginning about lunch time. I feel tired and have no energy. It hit me today that MAYBE this is just an extended flu that I am experiencing. This week has also been TOM, so that might have to do with it, but I never feel like this with TOM. Has any one else experienced anything like this, where the indicution flu stopped and then maybe comes back for a few days? Maybe I'm reaching...?

Also, I have lost 8 pounds on induction and had a total of 30 pounds to lose total. Should I move on to OWL now?

Any advice would be much appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

Has anyone experienced anything like the induction flu coming back during induction? I haven't lost any weight in the last week (I lost 8 in the 1st week) and I am feeling a little down. I want to see something, just a pound....anything...

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

Are you getting enough carbs? If you try to eat too few, you're likely to feel fatigued. Also make sure you are getting enough water. Even slight dehydration can make you feel sluggish and light/foggy headed.

It also very well may be TOM. Estrogen is stored in fat and when we lose the fat, there is a flood of estrogen coursing through our bodies. It isn't unusual to have some irregularities on Atkins.

Hang in there. It does get better.

Oh, and by all means move onto OWL! It's neccessary for learning how to deal in a high carb world once you reach your goal. Plus, there are so many more foods to choose and enjoy!

Thanks for the response Paula. I really thought I was getting enough carbs, but I maybe I need to eat more. I will go ahead and start OWL tomorrow. My head just feel like its going to explode...every day
I can try to up the water too. I've been at about 60-70 ounces per day. But I used to never drink water, so this is huge for me...but I live in the bathroom now (another downside).

        Thanks Paula!

Not everyone loses weight consistently, which I think is one reason Dr Atkins suggested we weigh after the second week of inductioon only, so we are not dismayed by seeing the scales jumping around or stopping !
You have done really well for your 2 weeks if you have lost 8 pounds out of a total 33 you wanted to lose
A 'normal' percentage to lose in those 2 weeks is 5-10% of total amount wanted, and you have managed to lose 24%
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
