  • Can I have flax seed???!!!

Someone replied to one of my post that I wasn't allowed to have flax seed on induction, not until the nut rung of OWL. The problem is, I need it to keep my fiber up. I've tried a lot of new veggies, including pumpkin which is loaded with fiber and I have my three cups a day, but I still need a little extra. How accurate is this? Can I have flax seed

Dr A says you can have a couple of TBSP of flax on induction to get things moving, if you know what I mean.
Doin' Atkins: Cuz my hips don't lie either.

I want to know where I can buy the stuff??

Tescos, Asda, Sainsburys...had no joy at any of them.

Anyone in the UK know? What about Holland & Barrett?

Re: Can I have flax seed???!!!

Flax seed is allowed in very controlled amounts (which are typically much less than what the flax recipes contain per serving!)

Flax seeds, psyllium husks and wheat bran may be used as a daily fiber supplement and are limited to 1 tablespoon daily.

Flax seeds, psyllium husks and wheat bran may be used to relieve constipation too. The beginning dose is 1 tablespoon and may be increased until the constipation is relieved.

Many flax seed recipes call for 1/2 to 1 cup of flax per serving....those recipes are best left for the On-Going Weight Loss phase.

By the way, flax seed does contain carbs. So be sure to count them.

You can buy it from H & B but it is more expensive from them than from ordinary health food shops I have found.

I can get twice as much golden linseed (flax in USA) from my local independant shop for the same price as H&B sell it for.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
