I am a bit confused. The packet says Fibre 24.5g, Carbohydrates Nil. I thought I would subtract the fibre from the Carb figure, so does this mean that this really is carb free?
Please help.
In UK and many other countries outside the USA fibre is not counted as a carbohydrate, so is listed separately from carbohydrates from sugar and starches etc.
You will see the fibre numbers are in a different section of the label.
So we dont have any maths to do and can count our 'total carbs' number on the label as being the same as what DANDR calls 'net carbs'
So your flax seeds have a notional zero carbs.
However I would suggest using one of the 'hidden carb calculators' and entering the fat/protein/fibre figures in it to see if there is actually a small number of carbs that you should be accounting for - as I am sure flax labels in USA show a very small carb count once they deduct the fibre carbs.
