      Re: Pork Rinds

Those sneaky marketing fools! It says no carbs on the Nutrition Facts, but in the ingredients it lists fried pork skins, salt, torula yeast, MALTODEXTRIN, spices, onion powder, DEXTROSE, monosodium glutamate, soybean oil, caramel color, artificial colors, garlic powder & natural flavor. Then at the bottom it says

**0 g NET CARBS WAS DETERMINED BY SUBTRACTING DIETARY FIBER (LESS THAN 1G) FROM TOTAL CARBS (LESS THAN 1G). NET CARBS INCLUDE THOSE CARBS THAT CAUSE A NOTE IMPACT ON BLOOD SUGAR.

I know Weight Watchers nets fiber/carbs, but Dr. A would probably be offended by this kind of hiding the ball. The fact is, there's probably 1g of sugar in each serving, 3 servings per pkg. It would be nice if they'd had the decency to list it in the nutrition facts and let us make up our own minds as to whether or not to net the sugar against the fiber.

      Hope this helps.

Only if you choose to let it be so!!

We all make errors in our food choices from time to time, but success is when you dont let it throw you off track and continue with induction eating regardless.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Toss the bag and get the kind that just contain pork rinds and salt. Keep going!

How can they keep the nutritional carb count at 0 and with 0 sugar is there is dextrose in them? I had the same problem...

                Re: Pork Rinds

Unfortunately they are allowed to state the nutrition info for whatever amount they call a serving in the USA (UK labelling makes them give info for either 100 grams/3.5 ounces or 100 mls/3.3 US fluid ounces/a bit less than 1/2 a cup)

So by quoting a very small amount as a serving they are allowed to say zero carbs if there is less than 1/2 carb of sugar in a serving.

If anything has sugar/dextrose etc listed in the ingredients I always count 1/2 carb per serving to be safe.

That's a bummer. I agree toss the bag and stick with the plain and simple listed ingredients when buying your items.

I can spend up to two hours in the grocery store reading all the labels, but it's time well spent!
