  • Ketosis - side effect?

I started Atkins this past Sunday. This morning when I woke up, I had the ketone breath. I was mentally alert, but physically my body doesn't feel right. My arms and legs feel fatigued and weak. I can describe it as doing a lot of lunges and lifting for a while, they feel jelly-like. Is this normal?

Yes you are having the induction flu. Your body is busy detoxing all the carbs out of your body. Hang in there it gets better by day 4 or 5.

      Hey Diamond,

Stick with it...around day 5 it went away for me and I have never felt better.

Make sure you get in all your veggies and take your vitamins.

In a few days you'll start feeling great and having more energy. Just hang in there a little longer!

I have the same and I'm on day 8
I feel wasted, totally tired all the time and that while I sleep 7-8 hours a night.
I take my vitamins and drink 3-4 liters water as well, so actually I figured I should be feeling fine by now...man it's starting to annoy me that I have no energy.
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Everyone is affected differently from killer headaches etc days 2-4 to no symptoms till you are 3-4 weeks into induction.

So just hang in there while your body gets through the trauma of getting used to eating better than it has in its life!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
