  • Sooo frustrated!

I am on my 6th day of the induction and have been amazingly good...following basically the recipes from the new diet cookbook but I have seen no weightloss the past three days. I know i need to be patient, but I was losing so quickly the first few days, I thought it would continue. What is going on? Maybe I am retaining water with all of these sodium filled foods...is this normal? Is there hope for me yet, or should I give it up? I kow I know, weightloss will come, it just seems like there is no point in doing this really tough 2 weeks if I am not getting any reward.

    Re: Sooo frustrated!

You've lost 5lbs in 6 days. I think that's a pretty large reward. I would kill for that. Literally. That being said, that's a large amount to lose quickly so it usually takes your body a little bit of time to catch up to itself before you drop again. A lot of people here go through periods of standing still, then dropping that repeat themselves over and over. If you just keep sticking to it, you'll see even bigger losses by the time the two week induction is over. Good Luck.

    Edited to add:
Ohhh... now I see your stats. You don't even have that much to lose which means it won't be overnight either. The closer you get to goal, the slower it goes.

also keep in mind to measure your reward in other ways than the lost pounds...you are developing a healthy lifestyle. this is not a quick fix as i am sure you know. you are reteaching your body how to use food for fuel. you are drinking lots of water and hopefully incorporating exercise into your day. you don't have too far to go so it will be a little slower. all these changes are RESULTS my friend. you are doing great. Fizzy, first of all, congrats on the 5 lbs lost. secondly, stay off the scale!!!!!
if you get on the scale everyday you're gonna make yourself crazy. if you feel it necessary to weigh yourself, set a specific time of week. i weigh myself on monday mornings only and stay off of it the rest of the week. i've done the daily weighing, and it caused me alot of ups and downs that i just didn't need in my life, so i stopped. other people stay off the scale completely and just go by the way a certain piece of clothing fits them, and others go by measurements only.

you're only on the 6th day, don't give up so soon....you should atleast commit to the 14 days Induction that you started, i bet by the time it's over you'll be so glad you stuck with it. besides you are just now probably starting to feel better with all the sugary carbs being completely out of your body.

i hope you keep at it, and good luck

                Hey Fizzy!

I am new to the boards here, and have just started Atkins again myself- I am on day 5. It looks like we have similar goals- so let's stick together and lose the weight! Good luck and stick with it!

                  Re: Sooo frustrated!

Well... you have to know that the first pounds are losen quickly 'cause they're mainly water weight.. the sudden stop or slower lose is because from this point you're losing fat. On the other hand, you might notice that your clothes feel loser, and the scale is stuck.. Many times the "whoosh fairy" visits after a "stall" (not that this is a true one)... the ketone strips might help your mind and let you know that you ARE in ketosis and burning fat.. but what I would do is stick to the plan religiously and forget about the scale for at least 1 week... Remember that from the previous days to your period, you might experience weight stall or even gain.. so my advice is again.. to stay away from the scale for a while... The same thing happened to me and then I realized I was exceeding my cheese allowance and splenda allowance as well. Once I kept them on track, I've losing even 1 lb a day..
Keep us posted on your progress.

                    Re: Sooo frustrated!

I had that problem for the past 3 days as well, scale wouldn't budge but I lost centimeters.
Today I all of a sudden had 600 grams less, even tested my scale ( it often needs 2 trys to show the real weight) and weighed myself 4 times
I'm not a patient person myself but losing weight the healthy way just isn't something that happens quickly...I'm still learning that
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P
