  • Need motivation

I'm on day 4 of my 14 day induction....I'm struggling. I didn't sleep very much last night and I feel like all of my energy has been drained . I'm so used to having sugar available to me that today is really really hard for me.
    Motivation Please?
What do you do for an extra boost of energy?
*I'm going to take a nap, I'm sure it'll help me.

      Re: Need motivation

      Hi Hoping,

Sandy is right - just hang in there, let your body get the sugar out of your system and you will feel so much better.

Drinking lots of water, sleep and caffiene/sugar free painkillers (if you are having headaches) can all help.

For mental motivation it is great to look through the amazing before and afters section of this site. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=22

The losers lounge is also great: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...=losers+lounge

Best of luck and hang in there! You will be so pleased that you did

        Re: Need motivation

Water, water, water! I found it helps to drink lots of water to flush out the nasty toxins from the changeover to ketosis. Also, I think (not sure) that the ketosis metabolism takes a lot more water than the carb-to-glucose metabolism. Carbs store four molecules of water for every molecule of carb, so I've read, so you could be dehydrated, maybe, and that's sure to make you feel tired. Worth a try, anyway?

          Re: Need motivation

It turns out I was just tired...as in sleepy. I went to sleep late, so it was kicking my butt. You know, when I woke up this morning I couldn't drink coffee or soda or eat something sweet. I took a nap and I feel much better. I'm enjoying an Atkins friendly meal right now!
I think I'm right on track with the water, too. I've been drinking water every time I feel like eating out of boredome which is a really hard habit to break! I also drink water every time I have a sugar craving..which just started yesterday. Anyway, and I drink even more water on top of that.
Thank you for your words of encouragement, it really helped!

              Re: Need motivation

I was going to ask how many hours you normally slept before Atkins compared to now. Good thing you got your sleep. I've found that the more I exercise, the more I need my beauty rest. And if I don't get my beauty rest, a 3 year-olds tempertantrum has nothing on me. Okay, so its not that bad, but my point is, rest is essential for your body to repair and gather energy and strength.

              Keep drinking your water!!
