  • Day 12 and 2 lbs. Help!

    Hey everyone,
    I started the atkins 12 days ago and for some reason I've only lost two pounds. I'm hoping someone can help me uncover what I'm not doing right. I can now look back when I first started and know that when I was eating I was eating way too much. I've started eating much less and I feel my moods are stabilized. I don't think that I'm going to the bathroom enough though. I tend to eat eggs and sausage with cheese in the morning. Everything else throughout the day tends to be grilled food; Hamburgers without bun, only cheese and mayo, - caesar salads with only lettuce, cheese, chicken, and dressing- grilled salmon- grilled chicken tenderloins- I was snacking on pork rinds, but I quit cause I read of the maltdrexoin (sp?) which isn't good. My ketosix sticks are deep purple. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    it could be that you are eating too much protein and not enough fat....when i first when on Atkins that is what happened to me. Also, cheese and lots of protein can cause constipation. To help relieve that you may want to try high fiber foods or a fiber supplement. Also, make sure that you are drinking lots of water and exercising. Lack of water and lack of exercise can cause constipation. Dont worry, you will get over this hump! GOOD LUCK!

      You've probably lost a lot more fat weight, but being constipated makes you seem heavier. Fiber up! Drink up! Veggie up! Broccoli and cauliflower are crucifers ... great for bringing some potty relief. You're doing great!

        How much weight are you hoping to lose in total?

        We can expect to lose between 5 and 10 percent if all goes well on the first 14 days of induciton, so if you have say 20 pounds to lose a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds would be fairly normal.
        Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Ditto what the others said and I'd stress the three daily cups of veggies (two cups salad - preferably higher fibre and nutrient dense veggies than just lettuce - and one cup "other" induction legal veggies).

            Hello,

            You mentioned that you are eating sausage for breakfast. You might want to double check and make sure that there are no carbs in the sausage. The first time I tried atkins I was eating sausage in the morning and was not seeing results. I checked the back of the package and there were carbs in the sausage. Just an Idea...good luck.
