  • Can I eat this?

My friend is doing a version of Atkins called "Kimkins". Some of you may have heard of it. She came up with this recipe for salad dressing.

FYI: Kimkins is similar to Atkins, however, it says you should also restrict calories and fat. That means little beef, little cheese, no bacon... etc. All of the meats must be lean.

Here's the salad dressing recipe my friend uses:
Combine: butter, lemon juice, minced garlic, and lemon pepper salt.
Mix together and pour over salad.

Can I have the lemon juice, the garlic?? The bottle says 0 Carbs. If I cannot, would it still be a better alternative to regular dressings such as Ranch?

the dressing you described, while the combination of ingredients do not sound appealing to me, are ok to eat. The lemon juice has the most carbs, but not so much that it would have an impact on your day by having it on a salad.

here's a copy of the Induction Acceptable Foods list. Basically if a food is on the list, it's legal in the prescribed amounts.

That's an odd salad dressing recipe because butter doesn't remain in liquid form at room temperature. So it would be rather clumpy when tossed on cold or cool vegetables.

Anyhow, since you aren't doing that "Kimkins" diet, you can have full fat salad dresssing like Ranch, blue cheese, real vinaigrette, etc. Just read the labels and make sure it follows the salad dressing rule.
