  • I cheated =(

Well on Friday we had a birthday for one my family members. I have only been on the diet 5 days and lost 10 pounds already. I was cheat free and now im not. I had 5 Corona's at the BBQ. I checked the strips today and im still in ketosis. I went right back on plan and made it a goal to stay cheat free for 14 more days at least. Well, just wanted everyone to know how supportive and helpful this website is. Everyone else says "well, now you can have some cake" or "just eat today and restart tomorrow" which i know can be deadly. Then ill say ill just start back monday, then gorge for a week and have to start all over. okay, just wanted to vent a little. Thanks for listening!!

        Re: I cheated =(

We're in a monthly dinner club and last night was the dinner, and my bf and I decided that we'll cheat on these dinners, but go right back to plan. I didn't go overboard, but did have more than 20 grams of carbs, was not in ketosis last night, but back in today, and even dropped two pounds from yesterday to today, which may be water weight, or from all the housecleaning I did yesterday. I think a once in a while cheat is not hurtful, I guess I'll see how this week pans out after that one cheat.

I cheated on day 14 on induction and had movie popcorn; it happens, we're human. You're right, the important thing to do is admit it and keep going just like you did .

Not sure how this works, but moderator sallyseachange posted that alcohol in the urine gives a false positive on ketostix .. so beware .. PM her and ask her to explain maybe.

I think were we go wrong on diets is with guilt. Lets look at the positive...you lost 10 lbs in a short time, you enjoyed a party, and you got right back on track the next day. Oh well, that is life. We will slip from time to time. Be proud of yourself for jumping right back on track. Congrats on the weight loss.

erinl...I couldn't have said it better...also, oddly enough...I drink alcohol atleast a couple times a week and it hasn't caused me to stop losing...maybe a little slower than i could without it...but the occasional happy hour with friends is just part of my routine.

                    Re: I cheated =(

I am sooo guilty of cheating too. Yes I admit it!! TRavelling for work meetings suX!! When I am in my own home, I can control my menu and it feels so good. I was on Day 14 and had to travel for 2 days. Yes, I gave in, with a glass of wine and carbs at dinner. I feel shitty too..But ppl are right, admit it, and get back on the Atkins plan. WE can do it!
Thanks for helping us all come to terms with ourselves. We will succeed!

                      Re: I cheated =(

Oh, I'm so bad for doing the "well I blew it today so I might was well enjoy it and keep eating" thing. Then it's just the weekend, I'll start up again on Monday. But something happens on Monday and it stretches to Thursday and then the weekend is coming again so I'll wait til Monday.

Good for you for stopping it there. That's strength!

                        Re: I cheated =(

Hi everyone! This is about my 4th time on the diet. During previous diet attempts, when i'd start to relax a little with my eating, maybe one to many low carb yogurts, or just a bite of that cake, then the next day i'd check the scale, which hadn't moved and think, hey im ok! So then it went on as you can imagine and oops, suddenly i was way off course and it was impossible to get started again and actually stay on the plan without cheating. So after a year's break and having regained the 18 lb loss from the year before i'm more determined to stick to the plan. I would like to break the 200 mark sometime during this life!
so i guess what im trying to say is i wouldn't recommend 'cheating'. I know it happens sometimes but it's a slippery course, at least for me! Good luck to you all!
